My wife and I were in Palm Springs to renew our vows after our wedding was hit by a hurricane, and we didn't get our dream wedding. We don't live in Palm Springs, but I looked up top steakhouses in town before our trip and found The Edge. The prices were out of our budget, but it looked so beautiful that I convinced my wife we had to go before we left, even if just for dessert.
The restaurant closed at 9 PM, and we arrived at 8:45. From the moment we walked in, the service was the best we had ever experienced. I stated that we were only looking for a quick dessert at the bar. The restaurant had just a few tables sat, so when they asked for our names, I explained we weren't hotel guests and they wouldn't be able to pull up our room. They insisted on knowing our names and used them every time they addressed us at the table.
Our server, Andrea, was truly the most impressive customer service person I have ever come across, and I work in customer service. We explained why we were in Palm Springs and our ruined wedding, and she ended up bringing us several drinks on the house, took our photos on the terrace, brought us extra desserts, and even arranged for someone to quietly sing at our table. The evening ended with a small bouquet of flowers and a handwritten note from the staff apologizing for our wedding luck and hoped to turn our sad story into a happy one. We were absolutely floored by the hour we spent at The Edge Steakhouse.
This experience was so extraordinary that my wife said once we can afford to stay in hotels like The Ritz-Carlton, we will only stay in Ritz-Carlton when an option, which is exactly the type of unicorn outcome any company strives for from a single customer interaction. The entire evening was just extraordinary and has been a highlight of not only our trip but honestly our marriage. We have shared this magical experience with our colleagues and families and will never forget the exceptional service and kindness we received at The...
Read moreDisclaimer. I do not work here. I am an actual guest and had no idea what to expect coming here.
Happened to stay at the hotel the same night as opening night of The Edge Steakhouse.
If you are visiting from out of town or are even from the area, I’m telling you, come here and get a steak. I’ve been all over the world and have had some of the highest quality steaks from Japan, Australia, and the US. The best steak I’ve had in my life was here. I ordered the New York Strip 8oz, and although I’m not a big fan of the NY strip in general, Ron the bartender sold me.
OPENING This restaurant is really well run and impressive. If you’re still reading this, I’m telling you, it’s worth going to. This is quality. The drinks me and my cousin ordered: an old fashioned and a spicy martini, were very smooth tasting - very refined and cleanly made. The bartender Ron gave us some delicious crispy rice paper coated with some signature spiced rub, some phenomenally spiced peanuts, and tangerine marinated olives all done by the chef. Superb.
The bread had the best combos: pumpernickel, sour dough, and assaggio bread with three different types of butter: sweet date, country blend, and something else. I can’t remember all this stuff.
Back to the steak. It was euphoric. The best steak I’ve had. It cut like butter, was full of juices and flavor, had a great char, and gave me bliss. Holy cow this was a steak to remember. Absolutely perfectly cooked. I had it with the fingerlings, which are fried a bit and have a duck fat sauce to dip them in. All exquisite. My cousin had the bass of which he raved as well.
All in all, well well worth the visit. Glad and honored to have been here...
Read moreI went with my spouse last night to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The views from this place are amazing and the name of the restaurant is absolutely appropriate. The hostess was friendly and very quick to seat us. The waiting staff was attentive but not overbearing. The ambience was great, I could actually converse with my spouse without issue. We were given complimentary champagne (for our anniversary) shortly after we were seated. I had the French onion soup and duck two ways. My spouse had the charred octopus and prime dry aged ribeye (22oz), additionally, we ordered a side of Mac and cheese and candied yams. The food was great and the sides were VERY shareable BUT I am very picky so I thought that the soup was over seasoned but my husband thought it was fine, also I kind of wished they had more options for non meat eaters(their menu had one entree listed that had no meat). That said, I looked at the menu prior to making reservations and still decided to go. After dinner we were given a complimentary dessert that was just amazing and a card signed by the staff wishing us a happy anniversary. A small complimentary drink is also given after dinner. I had amaretto my spouse had French brandy (?), both were great. The price was quite steep but the quality very good. All in all I would visit again and recommend this restaurant to my friends (who are meat...
