Bagel Chicks: A Delicious New Addition to Ranson! As long-time fans of the previous establishment in this location, we had high hopes for Bagel Chicks bakery taking over, and we're thrilled to report that they did not disappoint! From the moment we walked in, the bustling crowd and organized stanchions for the line signaled that something special was brewing.
The bagel selection is wonderfully plentiful. I opted for the sundried tomato bagel with bacon, egg, and cheese, while my husband chose the cheddar bagel with the same toppings. Both were incredibly flavorful, truly living up to their descriptions rather than just being a name or color. The eggs were perfectly hot and fresh, a definite highlight.
A Sweet (Mostly) Success Of course, for the sake of thorough research (and our sweet tooths!), we felt compelled to sample some of their dessert offerings. We tried the cinnamon stick and the German chocolate cake. The cinnamon stick was a delightful surprise—chilled, yet still wonderfully flaky and delicious. Sadly, the German chocolate cake was a bit of a letdown. While the frosting was incredibly thick and tasty, the cake itself was chilled, old, and dry. It's definitely not something we'd recommend or try again. Just mean I must sample more things next visit.
Modern Vibe and Open Kitchen The interior of Bagel Chicks boasts a modern industrial vibe. While it seems they're still putting some finishing touches on things (understandable for a bakery that just opened a month ago), with a few supplies near the bathrooms needing organization, the overall atmosphere is fantastic. We loved the open-concept design that allows you to watch the bakers at work, adding a fun and dynamic element to the dining experience. Throughout our visit, the flow of customers never stopped, making it clear why Bagel Chicks is already so popular.
There is several tables inside and a few outside, but with crowds its a limited seating area, I would love to see a small patio with tables on the left side of the building in the future.
The Perfect Cup And let's not forget the coffee! It was absolutely perfect—piping hot, and thankfully, not burnt or bitter. Well Done, Bagel Chicks!
Overall, we were highly impressed with Bagel Chicks. They've certainly filled the shoes of our beloved former pizza shop with a delicious and exciting new option for Ranson. Well done, Bagel...
Read moreI want to love Bagel Chicks. I applaud the business model and I think the bagels are decent. Being a big fan of NYC bagels, I am guilty of comparing any bagel to those iconic bakes. I have always checked the website for daily flavors and offerings. Every time, I am disappointed to find that the do not have the flavors listed online, regardless of the time of day. When taking an office order, you want to bring back what folks have ordered. Not easy here at BC. Then, there's the baked goods. The cases are full of so much. I've bought assortments of cookies and pastries three times. Each time is less enjoyable than the first. I wonder if a reduction in types might provide time to actually make cookies that taste uniquely different and flavorful. Lack of salt in the bakes is so obvious. Then, there is cleanliness. Each time I've visited, the staff members are dressed in various states of unkempt and disshevled attire. Perhaps a staff t-shirt could help? Possibly hats? The young woman at the register this morning had a shirt on that was soiled, smeared and dirty. It did not inspire confidence in the condition back of house. The trashcan lid was dirty and smeared. Perhaps the sheer volume of work and business is preventing regular checks and upkeep. All in all, it's become less likely that I will return. Again, the bagels are good. The cream cheese blends are good (when available). I just think the owners should take a long look at their process, the overall maintenance, and consider reducing the menu and doing what...
Read moreMy husband and I visited this bagel shop on a recent Saturday and were genuinely impressed by the quality of the food. The bagels were absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. We also tried a few pastries, which were beautifully prepared and incredibly satisfying. You can tell a lot of attention goes into the baking here.
However, there are a couple of areas that could use some improvement. We ordered a mocha frappe, and unfortunately, it was a letdown. It tasted more like chocolate milk—completely melted and not blended at all. For a specialty drink, it just didn’t hit the mark.
Additionally, the ordering process could use a bit more structure. From bagels to pastries to drinks, it wasn’t clear who was handling what, and with multiple staff members behind the counter, it caused some confusion and delays. A bit more coordination and clear roles could streamline the ordering process to help with a...
