Big Mikes Grillin — Restaurant in Ranson

If you're like me, then you're really tired of fast food...

After working all day, The last thing I want is to eat is something that's full of chemicals, preservatives, and flavor additives that I can't even pronounce.

This was my first experience eating at Big Mikes Grillin.

First of all I have to say that the owner Big Mike puts forth every effort to make sure that you know you are welcomed. He is open, inviting and happy to serve.

I was pleasantly surprised to find out that all the food is made to order instead of sitting on a shelf under a heat lamp.

(That means you have to wait more than 3 minutes and 30 seconds to get your food.)

Even though this restaurant has a limited number of seats available... you are not going to care because everything they serve here is hot and full of flavor.

I ordered two plates one chicken and one fish. Each plate comes with your choice of two sides. My son got french fries which he absolutely loved. And I got the mac and cheese and collard greens.

My mom brother and I just tried this place earlier today. If I would say anything that brings me back to eating good soulfood from down south in NC when I was stationed at fort bragg. The place I would go to was G and G soulfood. I will say OMG brought back memories and everything was amazing. The owner mike is very pleasant and stayed open even though we showed up when he was about to close. The young man said oh no pls come in and give me a few seconds. The food was very very good, hot, and fresh. The amount of food u get is just enough to make you full and not miserable. The place is amazing and the most inexpensive place around even more so than all fast food. If you are in charles town stop by and give it a try. Thank u Mike for the great food, think our lil family found our new favorite place to eat. I can't say enough how great the chicken and greens were. It took me back to when I would eat soul food down south. Great job young man and I believe you will be in business and may open up a few...

I think giving it one star is actually a reward. You try to support small local businesses where minorities are trying to thrive against large chains, but situations like the one I experienced at this place—run by its owner—really make you think. Sometimes it's better to go to big chains because the employees there show more respect and professionalism than the owner of this small business. The food was served 50 minutes after ordering, and it arrived burnt. Mike's response when I asked to cancel the order due to the long wait was that if the food was fine, there was no reason to refund the money. I don’t recommend this place, not just because of the food but also because of the attitude and service of the person attending, who unfortunately is the owner.
