Taco John's — Restaurant in Rapid City

Sadly I have to rate this place one star but not because of the staff. The staff here are very friendly, the facility is well kept, the staff have great patience for newcomers ( this was the first time we visited and so I was unfamiliar with the menu ) but unfortunately the food is not very tasty. My family and I were visiting South Dakota looking for something tasty to eat, we saw a lot of advertisement for Taco John's throughout our drive. Did a bit of Google search and according to the reviews it's supposed to be somewhat Mexican cuisine. Obviously authentic Mexican food will be the best but we figured perhaps it would be something like Taco Bell. We were wrong. I would easily choose Taco Bell over Taco John's . I Feel bad for the rating since the staff were really kind here, very welcoming. But I would not recommend eating here due to the food not being very tasty. It doesn't taste horrible, it just has no flavor. And if your traveling as we were, not worth the expense. Maybe I'm wrong and it's suitable for your taste pallet but take my word for it if it comes down to fake authentic Mexican food just go to Taco Bell. My apologies to the staff, not their fault. Usually don't have a problem at this location, usually it's our favorite spot to eat. Don't know what happened tonight at 730 but they were SO UNORGANIZED, you could FEEL the stress. I ordered a CHICKEN quesadilla with Sour cream and salsa, my buddy ordered a chicken potato burrito. They were busy so we gave them some patience, wasn't until about 15-20 mins later that we went to go check on the food. My friend said they asked what he was waiting for and said "NOW I can start yours" Excuse me? Got my quesadilla after 20 minutes, only problem was NO CHICKEN IN IT, wasn't even CUT, and don't know what the side was that they tried to give me, but wasn't no salsa! I said enough is enough, after watching OTHER irritated customers deal with the UNORGANIZED craziness, wrong orders going out, people waiting angrily. Lady behind the counter was rubbing her forehead STRESSED OUT by the time we left.

We ended up getting our money back and taking our business to the location on Campbell Street, And I was stoked when everything was correct.

Was given the wrong meal and I didn't realize it untill I got home. So I called the store and the manager said she took my name and that the meal I originally ordered would be replaced next time I came through. So, I go through today and the "manager" (miserable human being) literally refuses to replace my meal, yells at me in the drive through, and shuts the window on me. I work in the food service industry and I know that this is 100% unacceptable. She should be fired. This location must be suffering financially BIG TIME because giving me the free meal I was promised by the other manager, would clearly put them under. Im appalled at how I was treated and Im honestly surprised that a person like that even has a job with them, let alone a managers position.
