I worked at the Guidos in streetsboro 45 years ago . We made everything from scratch , the sauce , the meatballs , everything . My husband and i went to the Ravenna location last week and i was shocked ! The food was so industrial ! I ordered the special which was supposed to be rigatoni with green peppers , onions , mushrooms and marinara sauce with mozzerella . What a total disappointment ! The pasta was actually penne' , (the guy beside us actually recieved SPAGHETTI noodles ! ) the marinara was exactly like pink water poued over it . Tje onions , peppers and mushrooms were chopped up so tiny you couldnt even tell what was whay . My husband ordered the walleye special . Obviously not the smartest thing to order at an Italian establishment but it was a special . Small little filets , obviously not fresh . Not much flavor . We were so disappointed . What happened ??? Guido would turn over in his grave if he saw what has happened to his namesake !
UPDATE :
Guido's has the best lasagna in portage county !

Read moreGuido’s used to be the best place in town. Something has changed there in the last 5-6 months. We always order take out and pick the order up. The walleye dinners, fries, jojos and coleslaw have always been great. Our last 3 orders have been consistently below average in quality. The jojos and French fries and fish are all soggy and bland. They used to be crunchy and delicious. Now I am not even sure the fish is actually walleye! The coleslaw is full of huge chunks of cabbage. It used to be finely chopped. I called to express my concerns about the quality of the food in our last 3 orders, but the girl on the phone talked over me. She said that the coleslaw is the same as it always has been. She pretty much blamed me because the fries and fish were soggy, stating that when the food sits too long in the to-go box, it tends to get soggy. When I call to order food and they tell me it will be 40 minutes until the food is ready, I am there to pick it up at their place at the time they told me it would be ready. It seems that they do not care if their customers are happy or satisfied. This is very sad because Guido’s has been our go to place for pizza and fish dinners for over 40 years and now I don’t even want to order from them again! The only reason for the 3 stars instead of 1or 2 stars is because they used to be so good. It’s hard to believe how bad...
Read moreThis was my first visit to Guido's. Dinner time on Sunday was crazy busy with both dine-in and carry-out patrons. I was seated at some horrible little table overlooking an empty lot, but was greeted with a friendly face.
Nicole happily answered the couple of questions I had and the ordering began. A very fresh salad showed up with wonderful warm homemade bread that included spreadable butter. (10/10)
Our meals of angel hair pasta, and cheese ravioli with meatballs came next and they were both very good. Totally worth going back for from out of the area, which I am.
Next to arrive was the pizza 🍕. The presentation was killer. The problem was what was under the hood. It was a "thicker" crust, the top 2/3rds of which was translucent uncooked dough. It was then that I really noticed the guys in charge of making pizzas had been talking about their weekend activities, playing with their phones, sharing pictures with each other while sliding pizzas in and out of the oven. I have learned from watching television that this uncooked dough issue is typically a problem of the dough going in the oven when the dough is too cold.
The pizza was totally ruined. I considered it uneatable.
The pizza issue aside - I will definitely go back and just avoid the pizza portion of the menu. My sights are fixated on that wonderful...
