I went here for a nice lunch with my daughters. As we were walking in I didn’t see the please wait be seated sign and there was no one standing there. So my daughters and I went to a seat. Getting dirty looks from the counter after we sat down I politely asked if it was okay to sit down. She replied with yes, it was as she was walking over. We sat by the window, and it turned out the sun was bothering my daughter. We tried to move over one table and the girl comes running over telling us we can’t move as they have to sanitize all areas. I expressed why we moved and apologized. As we were already at the other table so both tables at this point would have already needed to be cleaned. She was very rude and then informed me there was a wait to be seated sign. At this point I felt very unwelcome. The last visit here (a few years ago) I got a Reuben sandwich that had rotten meat on it!! when the waitress took it back, the cook came out and apologized for using expired corn beef. Just an overall terrible experience every time with this location.. this was the last time, and I will never be going back!
Edit- I wrote this review sitting in my car right when we left. So it was Monday around 11 ish. The only issue I really had was feeling unwelcome and the embarrassment of not seeing the please wait to be seated sign. My daughters are highly active so getting in the door was a struggle… what made us leave was her telling us we had to move back over to the other table.. there was a table in between us and the other customers still and silverware on the table. The thing was we had already moved. So both tables would have at that point had to be sanitized.
I did edit above because the last visit with the Ruben was a few years ago! I promise you it happened tho (and can definitely happen anywhere) the actual corned beef he (the cook) cut it from was expired. The waitress got my sandwich and took it in. Saying how she could smell the rott through her mask and she was very sorry. The cook then came out to apologize and explained what happened. All was well. They asked if I wanted another sandwich I politely declined. Everyone else’s food I was with was good and I’ve heard nothing but good things about this restaurant. I was angry when I wrote this message above and a bit emotional because I had worked so hard to get there and it didn’t go pleasantly. I really should not have included the meat experience as it was so long ago. In I think end of (2021) thank you for your kind words and replying. I would never be dishonest, especially about something like this. But you are right to question it as it does...
Read moreWe were in Kent visiting my daughter and chose Megan’s Family Restaurant for lunch! It was just a short ride to the quaint and welcoming downtown of Ravenna. We were a little worried because there were a lot of people and only two servers. We were seated quickly and our orders were taken almost immediately. The menu is diverse and creative. My son chose the footlong hot dog platter and was a very happy young man. My daughter ordered the Sausage Platter (fresh made home fries, grilled onions, ground sausage and sausage gravy, with two eggs and toast of your choice). She loved it all but needed to take over half home to enjoy later! What a filling meal! I ordered the Steph Burger. The menu says it’s a quarter pound but I’m convinced it’s more. It comes with BBQ, bacon, cheese, and an onion ring on top. I ordered it without the BBQ and added mustard, mayo and ketchup. I also traded the fries for onion rings (so worth the extra $2.75 …. They were JUST PERFECT). The hamburger was so delicious as well. We were all very happy with the service, the food, and the price. Soft drinks are about $3 each but even with that we were under $40 for the three of us! They serve breakfast all day and are open until 7 on weekdays and until 1PM on weekends. The atmosphere is very “family restaurant style” with the old round seat chairs that can be uncomfortable for same. We will...
Read moreWhat a pleasant surprise this was! I'm not a huge fan of diners, but my breakfast companion is so we tried Megan's. We had a to wait a little bit but they flipped vacated tables with ruthless efficiency. The restaurant isn't too much to look at from the outside or the inside... walls are banged up, my first chair was rickety, the place as seen a LOT of wear and tear. However, the food was FANTASTIC. I had an omelette where I chose my own ingredients and it was surpassed my expectations! My companion had what she always has (eggs, bacon, toast, home fries) but she likes her home fries extra crispy and ordered them that way. They came out perfectly! She was super chuffed. They also have Coke products from the fountain (BIG plus for me) but they also have Pepsi products available in a cooler for those who haven't seen the light. My companion never wanted for fresh coffee. The service was unbelievably good and they work as a team. Obviously tons of regulars in there and the prices can't be beat. We like it so much we went back the following week!...
