Bread is freshly made, yes. I had the empanadas and was surprisingly disappointed. I hadn’t been here in years and was expecting the same taste that made them so popular many years ago. The recipe must have changed. I found the empanadas, which have a pumpkin filling, to be extremely sugary. It was mostly sugar beaten into the pumpkin filling. The filling was like a very gummy, dark and sticky substance. After two bites I had to throw it away. I had two other people taste one and they concurred that the filing was sugar mostly. We threw away the other five I had purchased. I would not recommend to buy this particular bread here. Try Sun Bakery, theirs are fresh and made with real fresh pumpkin filling.

They were closed even though their door sign and we presence said they were open. I was told to go here for anise samitas so was very disappointed when I drove 45 minutes to find them closed. An attempt to call the day before was unanswered so I think they may be closed permanently.

I haven't been here in about 25 years and realized that no matter how many bakeries I've bought from since do not compare to this one in my hometown. Simply delicious no matter what you buy. I don't come back home often but I will make a point to visit when I do.

You cannot go wrong with anything you purchase from this bakery it is literally the bomb.com. I came all the way from San Diego to try this amazing bakery. And let me tell you it was worth every mile hour and day that it took to get to it, I would absolutely come again . The only disappointment I have is with the customer service . The girl up front was friendly enough just doing her job and taking orders from the person working behind the scenes in the back room. I asked her if I can have my items that I purchased in bags rather than the box because I had a very long drive home, and was told no that they could not do it themselves but if I was interested in doing it myself I could and I would have to purchase the bags from them . I own my own business and to me customer service is everything. When you spend close to $100 the least they can do is put your items in a bag for you instead of making you purchase bags and on top of it expects you to bag them yourself, even while no customers other than myself were...

Purchased approximately 60 dollars worth of mostly empanadas. Told them yesterday over the phone that we were taking 4 dozen empanadas accross the country driving to San Diego and dropping some off along the way to my mom. I asked for 4 separate dozens. Upon arrival staff said wouldn't bag them since they boxed them. I insisted and staff walked to the back and asked permission to bag them but was told they couldn't. I was sold the bags so I could pack them myself ( I could care less if bags cost a dollar, they didn't). Stopping here has been a ritual for my family and I for decades. Trully sad experience today, try harder please. Sometimes the little things can ruin an experience and hurt a business. Might have to buy in Harlingen...
