Mike's Tavern — Restaurant in Reading

Stopped by on a Saturday afternoon before a high school reunion with some friends. Greeted with "Make yourself at home" and welcomed by folks who were obviously the regulars. Very nice options of craft beer on tap (breweries included Maine Beer Co., Other Half, Toppling Goliath, Cigar City - plus Reading Premium and Guinness). How John handled the crowded bar by himself but served everyone like he had a full staff is seriously working hard. And then personable and friendly on top of that. The bar was friendly and plenty of bar seating as well as tables. The music was The Benjamin Vo Band featuring Lucian D'Stair who is a very talented keyboard player. The band was in the zone from song #1 throughout the entire evening. The individual solos were incredible with Ben on guitar, Jare on the drums, and Schroeder on the keys, then playing off one another and feeding off the crowd. Blue's done right...

Mike's is a neighborhood bar of yore that attracts both a boomer and hipster crowd. They offer live music 2-3 nights a week, and an open mic night on Wednesdays.
