Pike Cafe — Restaurant in Reading

On 2/24/22 a large group of my family and friends visited the pike cafe. We left my father’s funeral service, and our luncheon wasn’t til 1, so we decided to stop in for a drink or 2. We gave the bartender about a 2 minute warning that we were coming in, and he welcomed us in a very professional and friendly manner. However, I can not say the same for the waitress!! She was very rude!! All she was worried about was us not sitting at any of the tables since we weren’t ordering food. She approached multiple people in my party repeating herself numerous times to push everyone around the Bar. She then approached me about a table where some were sitting, and again told me they should go sit at the bar if they are not eating… to which I then replied “THEY ARE UNDERAGE AND A 92 yr old!!” That kind of service is extremely unacceptable at any time, let alone to a family who are mourning the loss of a loved one!! As for the hostess, she was amazing just like the bartender!! She too welcomed us, checked on us throughout the hour we were there and assured us it was no problem at all we were there and even made a point to tell us we were perfectly ok with the children under 21 and the 92yr old at the table! After speaking to several friends about our experience that night, I found out that Corey was our AWESOME bartender, who treated us with nothing but respect! Lily was the AMAZING hostess and Gina was the ignorant waitress!! I also heard the same remarks about her from everyone I talked to and was informed that she is the owners sister and that is why nothing is done about how poorly she treats people! Unacceptable!!! The Pike Cafe is awesome!! The menu options for beers is two-sided. Their menu even during the Covid is so super great. It is a limited menu , but I think they put all the best foods on it! The staff was great, got everything we asked for. I go to the Pike Cafe as much as I can. P.s. they have funnel cakes for dessert. OMG, who has that, right? UPDATE: just went to the Pike around 4pm tonight but this time we took my home health aid along. We were so lucky to get there when we did because an hour later it was packed. There were 6 of us. My son and his wife plus my younger son sat at the bar while my mom, my aid and myself sat at a table. My mom got the Nacho Grande. I got the Seafood Nacho Grande. My aid had shiraca wings over fries. Everything was so, so good. Excellent 👌. Both my sons had wings and my oldest son's wife had a wrap. We all enjoyed our food. My mother and I both got the funnel cake sticks. I had decaf. OMG! They really taste like funnel cake!! Lol. Our waitress, at our table, was so funny and cool. We loved her. A great waitress makes your whole experience better. That's how I feel anyway. We will, of course, keep coming back. The one and only thing we did not like is when the Phillies came on they had the TV up SO,SO loud another couple asked them to turn it down. Well, not so much! UPDATE** WOW CUSTOMER SERVICE IS ALIVE AND WELL. I was woken up to 2 messages from Corey one of the bar managers (who ive known since high school) and Shara one of the servers personally reached out to me. These 2 employees went above and beyond to fix an unfortunate situation that could have lost them a customer. Corey and Shara thank you for letting me know my business is appreciated!

Extremely disappointed! This is very difficult to write. Normally am very satisfied with this business which makes my last and final visit to this place so hard for me to write this review about. I ate at this restaurant at least once a week for the past several years. I normally ate at the bar and always had good service. I always order a full entree, appetizers and drinks. I go there to eat on a friday night after being given menus ordering drinks and appitizers and asking the waitress if it was to late, other customers seated at their tables after us ordered entrees i wasnt allowed to order food. After speaking to the "manager" i was told the computer won't allow them to put my order in but the other patrons were able to order. I spend at least $150.00 a week at this establishment and always treat the servers/bartenders well but was denied service. Wish i could afford to turn customers away like that. I guess the owner doesn't care how his regulars are treated! So disappointed! Ended up getting wings at...
