THE Worst. It is 9:52 pm on a Saturday. I came to the Reading Road Popeyes Location after 20 minutes and multiple telephone calls went unanswered. I was attempting to place an online order; I had looked online to check the restaurant's hours, which said the store closed at 10. Yes I was pushing it close to closing but to be honest, I was seriously craving some chicken and honey and at the time I began trying to place my order it was only 9:15pm. I created an account online to be able to get the 5 pieces of chicken, 2 sides and 2 biscuits for $8.99, online order and pick up only deal. Only once I got to checkout, it wouldn't let me proceed. I called the store, repeatedly, no answer. I figured I'd head down and maybe get some help and some chicken before the 10pm closing. When I got here at 9:45, the doors were locked and an employee of some level was sitting inside at a bar of sorts. I thought maybe only the drive through was open, even though the sign on the door stated that the restaurant as a whole was open until 11pm on Saturdays, an hour later than posted online. I asked, through glass, if I should go to the drive thru. She shook her head and shouted "We're closed!" Confused, severely disappointed and still craving chicken and honey, I asked back what time exactly do they close so as to know for future chicken runs. She looked around, smiled and shouted back "Now!" to which I looked at my watch and replied "At 9:52?" She smiled, nodded yes and went back to typing into her phone.
Life post Covid-19 closings and restrictions have left many businesses struggling, many of which are restaurants. And we are all still trying to find our way back to some normalcy in this new world of ours. That being said, I would think a place like Popeyes, even though part of a chain, would be doing everything they could to welcome back old patrons and gain the business of every new customer they could. The Reading location definitely lost my future patronage and discretionary...
Read moreThe original order taker was great but not knowledgeable. I asked was there meat in their red beans and rice. She also rang me up for shrimp. She stated she didnt eat beans or rice. During the order, I asked for strawberry lemonade. I got to the window, the employee proceeds to give me a regular lemonade after I tell her I wanted strawberry lemonade. Im very aware of covid regulations. She still gives it to me as if she was dismissing me. So remaining calm and very respectful, I asked can I purchase a strawberry lemonade at the window. She says no we dont do orders at the window. I asked for strawberry jelly. She forcefully puts grape jelly in my hand and I asked AGAIN about strawberry jelly. She finally states thats all they have. I had no options at all or whether or not to take the lemonade or grape jelly. She threw me off, so I forgot to for my sauce for shrimp. I drive back around and a place another order for this frozen strawberry lemonade. I got to the window asked for blackened ranch due to me forgetting to get my sauce. I finally decide to begin eating 20 min later. Im long gone, no receipt they failed to give me one. I just knew I was about to bite shrimp. Nope it was chicken which I have been removing all red meat and chicken from me eating it. Then I'm forget it. Im getting a headache cause I need to eat. I look for the sauce and its COCKTAIL SAUCE. REALLY! Then I get to work hoping no meat in red beans and rice. Yep, its meat in the beans and rice. This ultimately the rudest Popeyes has been throughout the years. Glad I normal dont eat there. I only went because my friend asked me to take her. Otherwise I would've settled for subway or...
Read moreHad no real issues with this place until yesterday. Service was slow at times and not very friendly but the food was always good. The last two times I've gone, service has been quick however I used my debit card here yesterday and overnight I had 3 attempted charges through Seamless/GrubHub for Popeyes delivery, 2 different purchases from vape stores and 1 purchase from an electronics site. I believe someone from here took a picture of my debit card info and used it to make unauthorized purchases online. I've already contacted my bank about the fraud and have reached out to Popeyes to launch an investigation. My bank detected unusual activity and blocked the 3 food delivery attempts and the electronic store purchase but they still got their vape stuff. I've also reached out to the vape stores letting them know as well. Be careful if you go here and use a card through the drive-thru. Use cash or go inside if you must, but you're better off going somewhere else.
Edit - Tried giving this place a chance again. Now I prepay ahead of time on the mobile app. 7/29 and 7/30 of 2024. Both times I ordered the BOGO offer for a 6pc BONELESS wing. Both times I got regular wings with bones. Not sure how hard it is to read boneless or bone-in since the receipts and order ticket both said boneless. So not only is there a chance your card info gets stolen, but there's a high probability that your order will be...
