I have been using Tracy and Tres Belle since 2013. I have gone to her for all my dessert needs. She did my bridal shower cake, multiple cakes for my wedding, two baby shower cakes plus not to mention the countless times my family has been in to purchase an afternoon cupcake or even a whole cake. So, when it was time for my friends baby shower, I knew exactly who I was going to call. I ordered a themed cake, call to confirm it was received and let them know when I would pay for it. The Friday before my Wednesday pick-up confirmed the order again and went over the design with one of the workers (I canāt remember her name but she was wonderful! No complaints there!). Wednesday we cut into the beautifully decorated marble cake and see only yellow cake. Chocolate was no where to be seen. After slicing several pieces, we found one piece that maybe could of been chocolate swirl but honestly we werenāt impressed. So embarrassed after how much I built up the anticipation of this bakery, I called that day to let them know it was not a true marble cake and one of bakers said she would let the owner, Tracy, know. Come Friday: still no call back, so I called again. Tracy was out on a delivery but she called me back and spent a solid 3 minutes defending her work saying she guarantees it was right because she made it herself when she came in on her off day to make it. I tried to tell her I appreciate the effort and do not mean to offend but it wasnāt right. She bluntly asked what do you want out of this and I said I was hoping you could make another cake and she said no. We arenāt making you another cake. I said OK... could I be reimbursed. She said Iām not reimbursing you. I know there was chocolate in the cake. I said yes, but it was a small amount and not a marble cake. To stop the back and forth (honestly I was getting upset at this point) I said I would come in and show you what the cake looked like inside. She said Ok. I went in yesterday and showed her the picture and she said āthe best I can offer you is $20 credit for a future cakeā. Thatās not even what I paid for the cake!
Canāt believe after 5 years of praise and dedication I given this place, the treatment I got this week. I understand itās wedding season but if there wasnāt time to make the cake, they had plenty of chances to tell me. I donāt think Iāll be recommending this bakery anytime soon and it truly breaks my heart to say this but when the owner herself gives you horrible costumer service - what else are you...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe discovered another dining gem in Reading!!!
My sister and I did a little Earth Day project in Reading recently that took us right by the front window of Tres Belle Cakes. We each said that we'd never been in there and decided that we would return at the completion of the project. So, we did.
Sandy greeted us as we came through the door, making us feel "right at home" in a place we'd never been. She is warm and welcoming, and so easy to talk with. We probably could have stayed much longer; there was so much more information we could have covered!
But an important part of the conversation was what was in the display case. We could easily have taken "one of everything" since it ALL looked delicious. But we settled on just a "few": Two glazed cake donuts, the kind that are firmly-soft on the inside with the outside edges crisped-up with the glaze for a nice contrast. Four cupcakes: Coconut; German Chocolate; Strawberries and Cream; and Pistachio. A mini bread pudding. And, Biscoff Cheesecake Bars (which was super delicious).
There are hot drinks (see the photos). And cakes (some in the display case and others that can be special ordered).
The place is conveniently located on Reading Rd. Free parking in the lot beside the building. Closed Sunday, Monday and Tuesday which means the best selection of cupcakes is Wednesday afternoon, after they have been baking all morning.
Stop in and tell Sandy that Martha sent you!
UPDATE: JUNE 29, 2025 We hosted a baby shower and we used Tres Belle for the cake and cupcakes. Look at the pictures to see how beautifully Jennifer matched everything to the invitation: the colors, the bear, and the balloons!!! It was perfect! AND SO DELICIOUS!!! We chose carrot cake for the cake, chocolate and white for the cupcakes. Not only were the three flavors tasty, but all three were perfectly moist. We ordered more than enough for the number of guests that we had, but we had very little leftovers. I think people loved them so much that they were taking a cupcake or two home to enjoy later. We will be using Tres Belle for our future cake/pastry...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBrides beware!!! I put down a deposit with Tres Belle Cakes over 3 months before my wedding. I stopped in the bakery at least 5 or 6 times to try different cake flavors and finalize design details, paid the final balance a week before my wedding date, and called 2 days before my wedding to confirm everything. As I am getting ready to walk down the aisle, my venue coordinator tells me THE CAKE HAD NOT ARRIVED!!! This was at 7:30pm, and the cake was supposed to be there at 5:30pm. They had forgotten about my cake!!! Thankfully my venue coordinator got on the phone, reached someone at the bakery, and they did finally deliver a cake by 9pm in time for the cutting, but the cake was not as I had ordered. I imagine they baked the layers beforehand, forgot about it, and then rushed to get something out to me after their horrible negligence was brought to their attention. The sugar flowers were just stuck in the cake in a non-attractive way, and they were not the right colors (I had even brought them photos and swatches well beforehand). They also did not bring the cake pedestal I had picked out (and paid a deposit on)- the cake was just on a piece on foam board. The cake looked awful. I had always wanted a gorgeous cake for my wedding, and I had spent so much time researching designs and flavors- to end up with what I did was horribly upsetting. I would have been better off ordering a blank cake from Krogers and having my florist put fresh flowers on it. I had to leave for my Honeymoon the morning after my wedding, so my Mom called to try and get my money back. They only agreed to refund half, and were not even initially going to refund my deposit for the cake pedestal (which they didn't bring!) until she called back again. I will never step foot inside this bakery again, and would highly recommend you look elsewhere for a cake so you do not have the same awful...
