I should have known what we were in for when we walked into an establishment covered with John Wayne memorabilia and American flags.
But we had been driving for 12 hours straight and wanted a hot meal and the staff was friendly enough so we opted to stay.
First off, the two stars were well earned for what they were. Good tasting food. Comfortable seats. Decent bathrooms and an affable waitress who had just enough dark roast sunshine to pour into my coffee mug. She was not overly friendly kept her own distance enough to where it was a comfortable interaction. Unfortunately, i have higher standards to a dining experience than what was to be met for the remainder of the visit.
None of the service staff wore masks, despite Googles insistence that it was required by their policy online. No care was taken to social distance customers from one another in the seating arrangements.
Within about five minutes of placing our orders and havingThe waitress sat a large smelly man in the booth right behind me. He was sharing my airspace within about six inches. Not feet.
We moved to a booth approximately six feet from the smelly fat man.
This thoroughly confused the waitress who had to scramble to make sure she didn't drop our food. She looked confused why we moved, seemingly oblivious to new social norms that took root in 2020 due to a global pandemic. But she didn't say anything as she placed our meals.
We had sat at the previous table long enough to have empty coffee creamer cups on the table with some silverware used for stirring, ie, food particles were present on the surface of the table. No disinfectant was used. Not even a simple wipe down of the table before seating another family with children right where we had been within six inches of the fat smelly guy.
The waitress also neglected to identify that my order had been prepared wrong, despite her taking the time to write it down on the ticket and verify with me. She brought the erred order and set it in front of me and reacted with slight irritation when i told her it was not what id ordered. Once she got over herself and brought the food back correctly prepared i was as happy as the liquid sunshine streaming from my coffee mug.
Great spot for a hole in the wall breakfast joint but dont expect any care to be taken with cleanliness or social...
Read moreHad to give one star to post this didn't want to give any stars it was Horrible Horrible Horrible service attitude and management. We waited 2 hours to get food and the food wasn't even good. We were never even told that our food wasn't going to come out in a timely fashion until about after an hour wait. Also we were never apologized to and they took $2 off our bill after I asked the manager is this the best you can do for the second time whoopty Doo!! It put a damper on our Mother's Day to day the least... Mother's Day 2018 this happened.
This happened at a Chili's in Our home town last night 5/20/18. This is how it is done Rocklin R Restaurant... Our servers name was Amanda she was awesome very attentive. Brought us drinks immediately ordered immediately our food was out with in less than 5 minutes for the appetizer. Our main course came out soon after. The restaurant was very busy also. My husband had ordered his steak medium rare he got his steak and it was well done. Immediately they took it back manager came out and apologized and gave my husband the steak that he wanted with the sides fresh new plate. And was not to be paid one penny buy us his meal was free. The manager couldn't apologize more for the inconvenience. This is how it's done. Chili's knows how to run a restaurant other restaurants in town should take notice because wow we were so impressed had the best time there the food was great can't say anymore great things about the place cuz it's just wow thank you Amanda you are awesome!!!! Thank you management for being so polite and...
Read moreOn a road trip and stopped at Rockin R due to it's proximity to the freeway. We will always patronize a locally owned restaurant over a chain.
The server was excellent. Orders were taken in a friendly manner and beverages topped off. One of the most pleasant experiences we have in a while.
The interior is country rustic and kind of forgettable. Seems like we have been here before but can't remember when. That sort of decor.
The wife ordered a basic burger with a green salad. The burger came dry so you have to add the condiments. Not a bad idea. The only problem was the meat patty was cooked to very well done. That made it dry and chewy.
I ordered a grilled turkey sandwich concoction that was fine in theory but not so good in execution. There was an aboundant amount of an oilly substance on the bread. It literally made my fingers wet. Therefore the taste of the sandwich was all about that substance.
The green salads that accompanied the dishes were okay, just plain ice berg lettuce with tomato and cucumber slices with croutons.
I will say that it is worth a stop just in case we had a one off experience. It is a better choice than what is...
