If I could give this local Soulman’s BBQ a ZERO, I would. Spent some time with my family last week because we were celebrating my mother’s birthday and we had so much fun that no one was ready to go home, so I went with my dad to grab some ribs to take home for us to eat. I don’t live out here, but I wanted to continue enjoying the day with my mother so we paid $64 for 2 slabs of ribs to only get home and not be able to eat, much less chew through them. I like to cuss, but for the sake of my parents’ seeing this, I’m gonna hold off. I don’t know how long the ribs were sitting under the heat lamp, so we told them we didn’t want those, to give us some out of the oven because the ones under the heat lamp looked old and dry. The counter person said they were fresh, but sir…we know what fresh ribs look like!! The sheer audacity…he said he went to the oven to grab some fresh ones, so we paid for our purchases. We asked for some extra bbq sauce because we had 2 slabs, what was an 8oz. container of sauce going to do for 6 people trying to eat ribs?? But anywho, we get home and those ribs were so dry, overcooked and ran through!!!! I almost broke a tooth trying to chew through this mess; look at them!! I’ve had better from the other locations around the DFW, but I was sooo disappointed in these, especially considering how I was craving BBQ anyway. It was such a waste of time. I’ve never been to Juniors out there, maybe I should!!!!

I had to try this location after a bad experience with another location and was happy the food was fresh and tastes better. So far after 2 visits I really didn't notice but the sides are priced like meals. Paying $13 for a large cabbage or Mac and cheese is not good for the pockets or anyone. I understand business and plan to continue to look for options to entertain and dine. Update: I stopped in on 05/27/23 to grab some food for the weekend and grab my usual Slab and a half and didn't even check it because I am used to getting a quality meal but I was shocked when I opened it up for a Memorial Day meal and noticed that I received the stingiest rack of ribs in town. If I go back I must definitely take a look at what I am buying. Very little meat on these large bones. 6/15 visit so I went by this location and picked up a slab of ribs and to quote their slogan it was mad stingy. The meat was very dry and salty. I immediately regretted the purchase and a meal wasted. The service was A+ but they seem to have lost it with the food quality and the sides prices are ridiculous. Time for a new rib place.

So Jeff… how come you give so many places a 5 Star Review… I’m glad you asked…. I’m pretty much going to only give a 5 or 1 based on a first impression and then adjust accordingly if I return and feel differently. It’s pretty much based on if the place meets and exceeds the expectations being represented by the brand and branding of the individual location and the perceived value gained as a result of patronage to the establishment. That being said… this place, whole hog killed it. BBQ was great, awesome sauces on the side, as it should be in Texas. Prefect atmosphere, friendly folks smiling and taking your order menu at the front counter cafeteria style. All the sides were down home delicious.

I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding a deeply upsetting and inappropriate experience I had at your Red Oak, Texas location during the early hours of july 1st, around 3:00 PM. I arrived expecting a hot meal and professional service, but instead, I was served cold brisket and encountered unacceptable conduct from an employee named Jorge.

When I notified Jorge that my food was cold, he dismissed my concern with a shrug and said, ā€œIt’s always like that.ā€ Not only was this response careless and unprofessional, but what followed was far worse: Jorge made physical contact with me that was uninvited and made me extremely uncomfortable.

I am not writing this lightly. I was stunned and disturbed by the encounter. Regardless of the time of day or the setting, no employee has the right to touch a customer — ever — under any circumstance. I left that restaurant feeling not only disrespected as a customer, but genuinely violated as a person.

This incident is serious. I am requesting:

A formal, written apology from Soulman’s Bar-B-Que and management at the Red Oak location.

A full investigation into Jorge’s conduct during late-night shifts.

Confirmation that appropriate disciplinary action and employee training will be taken to ensure this does not happen to anyone else.

I trusted your establishment with my safety and patronage, and that trust was broken. What happened that night was unacceptable, and I expect it to be addressed promptly and professionally.

If I do not receive a response, I will have no choice but to escalate the matter through proper legal channels and public platforms. I would prefer this be resolved respectfully...
