The Georgetown Owl Market & Cafe — Restaurant in Redding

We were excited to try this new restaurant but what a disappointment. The papas bravas were laden with a tasteless tomato sauce. Tasted nothing like it should. The butter chicken had the same sickly tasteless tomato sauce. It was our mistake in ordering Indian chicken in a place that clearly doesn’t know how to make it. Salad came straight from the fridge. Cold with lukewarm fried chicken on top. Not what I was expecting. Menu was exciting. Actual food was lackluster. Service was even worse. Nobody came to the table to clear our appetizer dishes. We got no offer to refill water or drinks. Waitress came with the wrong bill that was more than two times what it should have been and when I told her it wasn’t ours, we didn’t even get an apology. The atmosphere was inviting, and the staff was both friendly and attentive. It was great to see younger team members actively learning with care. The food was excellent, with a diverse selection of small plates and entrées. The staff was knowledgeable about allergies and guided us through the menu with diligence. First time at The Owl and we are already planning our next visit! Food is exceptional, atmosphere cozy and relaxed - great bar area.
