Read this entire review! I live locally, and when I first heard that ANOTHER high-end mexican restaurant was opening, I nearly lost my mind! Another one!? Really? However, this place is not like the rest. This place is special! Everything works exactly the way it should. The food is fantastic and executed not only to satisfy your taste buds but also to visually appeal. Let's dive into the food! To start off the meal, we ordered house made guacamole and the Skirt Steak Aguachile! Holy mole! The skirt steak aguachile was unbelievably good! I could have ordered two and been just happy with that! The guacamole was excellent as well, but I wasn't a huge fan of the pomegranate seeds in it. IMO..it took away from the taste more than it added to it. Next, we ordered "Llevame a la playa" and "Saku Tuna Negro". The Llevame was a thai inspired ceviche that was absolutely delicious! A perfect summer evening treat! This was probably my favorite of the two seafood dishes. The Saku Tuna was great as well! The chile negro really stood out in that dish. Both were excellent to share with the homemade corn tortilla chips! As far as drinks went, I enjoyed the Thai style mocktail (I forgot the name). It was good but a little too sweet! My friend had a couple of shots of Patron and a beer. All in all, a 10 put of 10! The service was great, and the atmosphere was swanky and instagram friendly. I should also mention that this place is owned by the same people who own Brand 44. Both restaurants produce visually appealing tasty food! Check them out as well!

Hands down, our new favorite date night restaurant. Absolutely amazing! The ambiance is perfection, so much attention to detail! We loved the music, the lighting, the custom tables, the plants - it was gorgeous. Only feedback here is to cushion the booths, they were pretty uncomfortable, so we moved to the bar after we ate. The food was divine! I got the special of the evening, which was spicy shrimp tacos with peach salsa. The presentation was stunning, and the flavors were incredible. My husband got the mole burrito and the mole was the best we ever had, and that's saying a lot since my husband is from Tucson. For dessert we had the churros and they were just right. Our server was nice, she was pretty quiet. We enjoyed chatting with the bartender when we moved over to the bar. Overall, it was a perfect date night for our wedding anniversary. We live on the north side of Bend, it took 20 minutes for us to get there. Don't let the distance keep you away from this new gem! Highly recommend.

Overall, the food was good. There were some fun interpretations of traditional favorites. Highlights were the Al Pastor tacos and the Alambres Tacos with Steak. The homemade tortillas were a nice authentic touch, but quite flavorless and bland. For a family of 4, $190 for dinner is outrageous for this cuisine and 2/3 the meal being rice and beans on all dishes. The ratio of meat to portion size was shameful. I get high costs of food, but to skimp that much only pushes people away. The adult beverages, specifically the spicy habanero mango margarita really missed the mark for me. I love spicy margaritas but it lacked depth of flavor and was unbalanced. The service was good for being a busy Fiday. The ambiance was fun but confused. Somewhere between traditional mexican sugar skull inspired art deco, neon pink, and tropical. Overall, I wouldn't bring the family back. I would be reluctant to go back even for a date night. If i am going to spend 50+ per person for tacos, it better slay.

It takes a lot for me to leave a review, but this one unfortunately felt necessary. I honestly really wanted to love this place, but just can’t after this recent experience. I have been here once before for drinks and they were good, so maybe it was just the staff today or something. But overall just a bad vibe. First of all, we (two of us) asked for a booth and were told they needed to save the booths for larger parties - disappointing, but I get it. However, two minutes later, another couple walked in and were seated at that exact booth (just the two of them). Definitely started things off on the wrong foot. I then ordered an Elote Margarita, which sounded unique and advertised a tajin and pink salt rim. The drink I received tasted like straight tequila and water (SO strong), and had a plain salt rim that somehow tasted vaguely of coconut..? (I swear I’m not crazy, my husband tasted it too. Luckily we have no food allergies but that just seems like a potential allergen contamination issue.) Typically I’m not one to refuse eating/drinking something even if it isn’t my personal flavor preference, but honestly it was undrinkable. I confirmed with the waitress that it was indeed the Elote Margarita, despite it not reflecting the menu description. Later, my husband ordered a simple Modelo and it took so long to arrive we eventually just gave up and asked for the check. On top of this, the food was pretty mediocre (especially for the price) and not a single person checked on us throughout our meal. We live in Terrebonne and love the other two restaurants from the same owners, but I can’t see us ever returning to La Catrina Chingona - we’ll stick to...
