I went in yesterday and had the worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant. The server I had was horrible. When I went to order my drinks I asked if I could also place our food order since I was there was kids and my disabled sister and knew what we wanted to order. She looked at me and angrily said “no! I have 4 tables ahead of you and you need to wait your turn.” I was taken aback. I didn’t ask in a mean way nor was I trying to “cut” in front of anyone’s order. I have been a customer at many locations of The Original Pancake House and this has never been an issue nor have I ever been spoken to like this. I should have left at this point. I made the mistake of giving the server the benefit of the doubt here. Big mistake.
5 minutes later my daughter noticed a decoration had fallen off by the fireplace. She asked me if she could go pick it up. I said yes and told her that was sweet to help. The minute she touch the decoration the server before yelled “don’t you dare touch that!” I explained to the server that I had told her she could help by picking it up and she was doing nothing wrong. And she angrily said “no one is allowed to touch the decorations! They are fragile!” That was it for me. I have never had my child yelled at in public and especially in hospitality. This crossed so many lines for me as a mother and a customer. I got up and took my kids out of hearing range. Then I asked for her manager and she sarcastically said “yep!” And went and got her.
When the manager came out she started to write me a meal voucher to use in the future. I was not looking for a free meal. I was looking to have the issue of how we were treated addressed and resolved. I had tears in my eyes because I can’t imagine anyone else being treated this way. My daughter was upset at being yelled at. I was treated with such disrespect and again, I do not want a free meal from this. I wanted the server to know she shouldn’t treat paying customers this way and definitely should not be yelling at anyone’s kids.
Every other location I have been to has been amazing. Like I said, I have been going for years. Since I was a child. So to have this experience was just sad. I will never go to this location again. I will not support a location or business who treats...
Read moreReally weird experience. I've been to several of this chain's locations and have many fond memories. Today we visited the restaurant in Redmond and my experience was not good. I'm not a complainer and I didn't want to say anything at the restaurant that would bother my guests or the affect staff I interacted with (since as a customer, I don't know the whole story), but here are things I thought could be improved upon:
The restaurant was not that busy. There was no wait getting us seated. However, after the host sat us and gave us menus, we didn't see a server for about 10 minutes. I watched another patron who was seated right after us, stand up and leave after not seeing a server for a while. Multiple staff doing other things walked past us, but apparently not our server.
After our server showed up, they asked if we had any initial orders (like we were going to get beverages and then later order our meal)... but since we'd been sitting so long, we gave them our order... including 1 coffee and waters for the rest of us.
After a reasonable wait (10 mins?), our meal showed up, carried by about 3 different staff who didn't know who had ordered what. I asked our server where our drinks were and they said they were on the way... one of my guests watched her personally go get the coffee and waters at that point and bring them to the table.
I sampled my food. My potatoes had obviously been salted more than once (probably while on the grill) and were pretty much inedible. The main breakfast entree wasn't remarkably bad, so I won't comment on that, although I will say that I did try to eat more of the potatoes later and some were undercooked.
It seems that the rest of my party was perfectly happy, so maybe I was having a bad day, but if I were the manager or owner of this restaurant, I'd want to look into things.
One thing that might be a part of the issue - the restaurant did have a rack by the front door that was for food delivery services (Uber Eats, Door Dash, etc.). Not sure why this would be a factor, but again, if I was the manager or owner, this could be something to look into.
I'll probably go back to the restaurant someday, but perhaps not...
Read moreAfter a long weekend of a family reunion of sorts, we decided to finish it off with breakfast. A family member arrived first and put our name on the list. Another family member arrived 5 minutes later. As our name was called, I along with the other 2 in our party had just arrived and were exiting the car. It takes a few moments longer for a 93 year old handicapped gentlemen to exit a vehicle. Our party members inside said we were here but the hostess would not seat our party because we had not entered the building yet. Mind you with a 93 year old we parked right in front of the door which she could see us working our way to the door. We then had to wait an additional 20 minutes. In the mean time a larger party was called for their table. The gentlemen told the hostess his party was not there yet but he would call to see where they were. At this point we were sure we would be seated. NOPE! She told him she would wait since they were just arriving in the parking lot. UNBELIEVABLE. Once we were finally seated our waitress Farrah was a delight. However I have no idea what was going on in the kitchen. The 93 year old received his full meal. I got my sausage and my husband got his bacon. 5 minutes later the other 2 received their hash browns. My french toast arrived and I was half way done when the other 2 got their meal and completely finished when my husband received his omelet. Again, Farrah was very kind and apologized for the delay in the meal and compensated us. Bottom line is, the customers, wait staff and bussers have to suffer for the poor management of...
