We were traveling and looking for a mexican food place to eat. We came across this and saw it was voted best Mexican restaurant and best servers in Redondo beach as stated on their window. Sounded promising. The food here is mediocre at best.
First we had to wait 10 minutes outside to get a table. No problem, it happens, it was a small place anyway. Then once seated we waited 30 minutes inside for our food. Borderline unacceptable considering our two orders. Most of the tables inside either had their food or where getting ready to leave. The only way a 30 minute wait at a mexican food restaurant is if the food is going to be good.
We ordered a carne asada burrito and chicken flautas. The burrito was overpowered by the excessive use of the seasoning coriander. It was a burrito flavored coriander roll in my eyes. The menu should have put it as a coriander burrito, not an asada burrito. Am I being clear on how much coriander was used in the making of this burrito? The flautas were terrible. Dry, tasteless, bland chicken. I make better stuff in my crock pot at home.
All of this for the low low price of $25.
Bad food, poor service, expensive (for mexican food), never...
Read moreA friend of mine told me that when he reads a bad review online, he will often go in and order the same meal. My wife and I went to El Gringo Redondo for the first time last week and decided to Re-Review a a one star review. We ordered the Asada Burrito and the Chicken Flautas. Both were amazing. Unlike the review of Jonathan O'Connel of excessive Coriander (which is commonly know as Cilantro here in California). The only thing that was consistent with Mr. O'connels review was that we also had to wait outside for a table because the place was packed. Good Food and Good Service. It was so good that My wife ordered a pan of Chicken Flautas a week later to take to a party, they were a huge hit. I told someone of my first experience at El Gringo Redondo, they said "its my favorite mexican place". To whom it may concern, consider where the review is coming from before taking...
Read moreWe rarely have eaten in the restaurant, but when we have the experience was good. Friendly. We usually just pick up. Not sure what happened, this past sunday my son and I got a real bad case gas. It has been a while since we eaten there, since it is not my favorite place to pick up Mexican food, I have always thought the carne asada is too seasoned , over cooked, cut way too small, always a bit too dry. I am sure others prefer their meat that way.
Not sure if it the excessive seasoning or just us. Either way it has taken two full days to recover from it, I won't be ordering carne asada from here. Maybe, I'll try the chicken once my stomach...
