We arrived July 10th and upon arrival the hotel looked filthy from the outside. The inside was even worse. There were cigarette burns and a brown stain on both comforters.. The sheets were grey and soiled. The towels were dirty. The bathtub was so dingy we ended up having to wear flip flops while we showered. I had to clean the refrigerator myself with Clorox wipes because housekeeping was gone for the day. I requested extra sheets to lay on top of the bed so that we didnt have to touch the comforters. We unloaded all of our food into the fridge only to find out the next morning that all of our food was warm; the fridge was not even plugged in. After we plugged it in on the 11th we came back that night and our food was frozen completely solid. The refrigerator was acting like a freezer. Also, when we returned to the room that night it had not been cleaned. When I called to report it they stated that it would not be cleaned until we checked out 6 days later on the 17th.
On the 13th I called the office and asked if the trash can be emptied. They stated that they would empty it that same day. The ended up not picking up until the 15th after I called back asking why it had not been done yet. They stated that I would have to bag it up myself and put it outside the room door in order for it to be picked up.
On the 15th I also called to report that there was no internet service. I asked if we could get more towels, they stated that we would have to go and find the housekeeping person and ask her. So I had to leave my room and go walking around to find the housekeeper myself. One I finally found her I requested 3 towels for our room. She searched her entire cart and stated she didnt have any. So instead of 3 towels ( 1 for each guest in our room) she gave me 2 hand towels instead. When I went down to the front to report the incident they stated that they were trying to get the laundry done and thats why they didnt have any.
Every time I complained I was told there was no manager on duty. On Thursday the 15th I demanded that they find one! They then stated that the manager would be in the next day, Friday the 16th. On Friday the 16th I went down to the front desk to speak to the manager and they stated the manager had quit. They stated another manager would be contacting me, someone name Jenny. Later that day I got a call that showed up as "No Caller ID", when I picked it up it was Jenny the manager. After I voiced my concerns to her, she stated that "if it was that bad you shouldve left". She asked why I waited that long to complain. I told her that I complained every day but was told there was no manager on duty. By Thursday I told them to find me a manager. She went on to say that she would never stay in a place where she had to wear flip flops in the shower. She stated that the best she could do was credit me one day or Ramada points. When I told her that offer was not sufficient she stated that was the best she could do and hung the phone up on me.
She then met me in the lot outside the office apologizing and informed me that they had cleaned our room. They changed the linen on only ONE bed not both, and the new linen still had cigarette burns in it. I had to call down to the front desk again and ask them to come up and change the other bed sheets.
I told Jenny that I would be willing to pay for 4 days if she credited me 3 days. She stated she would speak with her higher ups and get back with me, I have yet to hear from her. This was 4 days ago.
The only reason they earned one star was for the off...
Read moreWe were called around 10:00am to verify we were coming. We verified and showed up at 2:45pm. The manager asked if we would like to upgrade to the biggest room, to which we agreed. We were told the room is not quite ready yet but will be available in 30 minutes. We went to the store and the beach and arrived back an hour later only to find they were just finishing up in the room. The biggest room (rm 215) is on the second floor and there is no elevator and you park in the basement. The room is rather small and does not contain a closet for your clothes. Furthermore, the hotel sign is right outside the window so the red light shines in your room at night. The AC is almost broken and makes a strange rattle sound when the fan comes on. The beds squeak. There is a 1/4" gap around the door to the room. The safety chain/security bar is improperly installed and does not work. In fact, we were almost locked in as the bar got stuck when my daughter opened the door and we could not get it undone. They "fixed" the improper installation by loosening all the screws to provide wiggle room for the bar and ball.
The bathroom is a complete joke. The sink does not have a stopper. The drain plug in the bathtub does not work. This proved to be a big deal as I needed to give my 2 year old a bath after a day at the beach to get all of the sand off of him. I had to plug the bath drain with a washcloth. The shower curtain rod is improperly installed and tilts towards the floor. The trim on the fixtures in the tub are covered with rust. The furniture has pieces of trim missing.
I was extremely disappointed on the second day. We left our room at 10:00am and went to the beach. We returned to the hotel at 4:15pm to find room service was still in our room cleaning. Check out time is 11:00, check in is at 3:00. For two consecutive days they did not have our room ready until well after 4:00. I asked the manager if this was normal. She said they had an issue come up and that caused the delay. I replied that I have an issue in that I have a tired and sleeping two year old and no place to go. She sent another staff up to help, but all they did was gather everything and leave. Dirty towels were still on the floor in the bathroom.
The continental breakfast was alright, though seating is extremely limited. I was more upset with the manager as apparently does not understand kids. I'm helping my 11 year old make her waffle . My 2 year old started opening the cupboard doors. He wasn't getting into anything, just opening the door and shutting it. The manager came out and told me she cannot have him opening the door.
Bottom line is this is the worst hotel I have ever stayed. I have stayed at other Ramada's numerous times and have always found them to be a great value. (I coached a traveling soccer team for years and we booked with Ramada first). However, this Ramada should be avoided at all costs. For the same price you can get a better hotel down the street. This Ramada looks like a converted Motel 6 but charges about 4 times the amount. Yes, the parking is free. However, it is worth the parking fee at other hotels for the better amenities...
Read moreI was travelling here as a family with my 2year old. I chose a Kingsize room as it ticked the boxes for what we were looking for. The room itself didn't disappoint. It was clean, there were no bugs (except for a spider in the bathroom) and the room itself had everything you'd need - a fridge, microwave etc. plenty of power charging points. The shower runs hot and has enough pressure on the water flow. The place also has a free continental breakfast offering though I didn't see it. The location is convenient for Redondo Beach. There is parking on site, which makes it convenient.
On the not so great side this place is not family- friendly, though it wasn't obvious until the first night we stayed here. My little one wouldn't settle. Anyone who's a parent knows toddlers are strong-willed individuals where some days a lion cub would probably be easier to handle. So that mixed with the walls being paper thin means you can hear everything going on in the hotel.. including a feisty toddler being a typical toddler, making a bit of noise led to the hotel duty manager calling my room to do with noise complaints. I apologised & explained to them it was a baby, but they didn't care... they were hostile and had an attitude. They did the same again the following night. They also threatened me that if they received another complaint about the noise from the baby then we'd have to leave the hotel. Umm not okay at all and an over the top dramatic response.
I totally understand nobody wants to have their peace disturbed. But babies do what babies do and with all the will in the world & trying as many distractions and comforts as possible to keep them calm toddlers don't have an awareness of their surroundings or who they're disturbing. They're in their own world half the time. He was just playing. To put it in perspective, we've been travelling the world the past 3 months, staying in all kinds of environments from 5 star hotels to budget motels & family homes. This is the first time we've ever received a complaint. We weren't doing anything differently here. We were just trying to recover from a long flight and jet lag.
The place was not advertised as an adults only hotel. It's supposed to be family-friendly. But to be honest, I found the staff here to be anything other than friendly.
I could hear the cleaning staff speaking to each other loudly outside my room during the daytime and raising their voices to communicate with colleagues elsewhere in the building. I could hear doors being closed loudly. But as much as it's an inconvenience to experience that, I pick my battles wisely and I didn't have the energy to be making a big deal of it.
Check out is at 11am. They are strict about it.
Would I stay here again? No. Simply because I didn't like the attitude of the staff or how they made me feel. I choose decent places to stay in that I feel safe in, to bring a child into, where I can relax. This isn't it. There are plenty of other options in the same area and beyond where they have a better attitude. So if you have a young family, this is not the...
