Straw & Spoon — Restaurant in Redondo Beach

Customer service has gone down the drain. When they first opened, it was excellent. So the downturn is unfortunate. I placed an order on their kiosk for one açaí bowl and was waiting outside with my infant in her stroller. Usually I get a text message saying the order is ready. 15 minutes later, no text. I see people who came after me get their orders and leave. Perplexed, I go back in and wait in line to ask the cashier what is going on. She tells me “we have never texted anyone their order. It’s your responsibility to check with us to see if it’s ready”. Really? You want me to just keep rejoining the line to see if my order is ready? No order call outs, no text like previously? I show her my text messages from their number - numerous ones (been here a bunch) with order status updates. She looks confused and says she doesn’t know how that’s possible as they never text. Someone from the back them comes and tells me their system is down. Well which is it? Overall extremely rude. Their bowls are delicious but I will not...

Small, hip shop selling various teas, acai bowls with various toppings, and boba. The boba is good and well made with a decent sized serving for "regular boba" -- the other boba options are "double boba" and "triple boba". There are various sweetness options as well if one doesn't want their drink too sweet. Drinks come in one size, and the acai bowls come in various sizes. So far I've ordered matcha latte, sweet milk, Thai tea, and a milk tea, all with boba. They were all good, being enough to satisfy.

I was excited to try Straw & Spoon as someone who had never had an açaí bowl before. Not only can you customize your bowl, but there are easy options to pay and plenty of space indoor and outdoor to enjoy. There are a few employees that I personally appreciate, who are very nice and put a lot of care into the bowls.
