Surprising, we had several concerns during this visit. Our visit was at 8 PM on a Saturday night. After passing up the new restaurant next door that looked "way too busy" for our taste, my husband and I came here, we came here. We hadn't been here in a month or so, but it was one of our old stand-bys. The dining room was empty with the exception of one older couple that left after we sat down. We had the whole place to ourselves. We had decided to get the buffet since it looked so good. In addition to their fully stocked salad bar, there were several pizzas and a cheese bread pizza, spaghetti and a chocolate dessert. However, they were all cool to cold, even the pizza that was brought out while I was fixing my plate. I told a blond female staff member and asked her if they had a microwave to heat the items I had selected if I decided I needed to. She just said they did. When I took my plate to the counter and asked a tall male employee to heat it for me in the microwave, he did so promptly.
What bothered me was:
#1. The food was cold in the first place. The pizzas were under what I thought was a type of heat lights/lamps, but the "heat" portion obviously wasn't working, even on a fresh pizza.
#2. The spaghetti and chocolate dessert were in a separate heating container that also did not keep the food even warm.
#3. I told two separate people about the food being cold, but neither seemed surprised, concerned or even apologized to me for needing my food to be heated.
#4. What sounded like the entire staff, was cleaning in the kitchen. Even our initial waitress that only had to bring out our drinks, took about 15 minutes before she came back to check on us initially. I know that doesn't seem like very long, but my husband was out of drink and we were THE ONLY CUSTOMERS IN THE RESTAURANT THE ENTIRE VISIT. Fortunately, her frequency of visits increased. Unfortunately, I'm not too sure that we will be able to...
Read moreWe visited Fursty's for the "furst" time as we wanted local pizza. The service was phenomenal. We were surprised to find that they had a salad bar available (considering the pandemic). We chose a one-time visit to the salad bar. There's hand sanitizer with a sign that instructs patrons to use prior to grabbing a plate. There's a "sneeze guard" over the salad bar with a sign posted stating masks are required for visits to the salad bar. The salad was delicious. To our disappointment, as we were finishing our salads we observed an elderly couple also visit the salad bar a couple of times who never used the hand sanitizer and were not wearing the masks they wore when entering the building. I didn't see any of the employees around when the elderly couple visited the bar so they weren't able to enforce the rules. We were glad we'd only purchased a single visit. Obviously, we don't know about the behavior of patrons before us just of those after us. We ordered The Works pizza. It was good but nothing special. The Italian sausage topping was perfectly spiced. I do wonder if they make their pizza dough in-house or if it's premade. Overall, it was an...
Read moreIn a word, Basic. Casual atmosphere which is fine and as expected. Debris on the floor and thd staff made no effort to remove when we seated. My friend had The Works sandwich which was good but the fries were unimpressive. The lasagna was a good portion and was good but the plate was hotter than the food. The spaghetti was ok, good portion, tasted ok but the meatballs looked no different than what I get at the store and microwave. No hint of searing from baking or frying. The parmessan cheese shaker had old sauce on the lid. The waitress did have it cleaned. There was some food spatter on the wall of our booth. My other friend witnessed a kitchen employee spill salad dressing on their finger and simply scrape it back into the container. Bathroom was fair, dirty floor and urinal. The waitress had no idea about the wine they offered. BTW it's simply a small personal size bottle which is OK for a restaurant like this. Is gum chewing for a cashier acceptable? In the middle of our meal the server brought our bill for when we were ready. No offer of dessert. Might be a while...
