Northern Grounds — Restaurant in Rhinelander

I’m always trying to find an alternative to Starbucks. I think this place could be great. Requested something very simple two shots of espresso w splash of coconut milk. 1) coffee was cold… that sucked. I think the espresso itself as a bean prob is decent but when it’s not hot AT ALL Luke warm at best, that blows as then you are on the road, like how am I supposed to heat it up? 2) please don’t ask me for a tip on my cc (paying interest on that tip) before I taste my coffee even? Who does that. Starbucks doesn’t even do that? Why would you train your employees to even ask for a tip? Cringe. I’m pretty tired of the imposing tip thing. Charge what you think the coffee is worth, and if your staff is not paid enough to make them ask for tips then pay them their worth? This tipping bs - just impolite and rude. Regardless of tips, service should be too notch as a standard not based on tips. Won’t be back...

I absolutely loved it here!! Honestly I wish this coffeehouse was down in Milwaukee where I live now (I lived in Rhinelander for my whole life). I think this coffeeshop has a different vibe than the others in the area. I thoroughly enjoy the amount of space inside, love the color scheme, the whole feel of this place is clean, modern, just beautiful. I also enjoyed the wide variety of milk options (I don't have a milk intolerance or anything, but I love oat milk, and trying new milk types in general). They also have a wide range of like winter specials, which is epic. I got the salty snowman and it was very good! I will bd going back to get a lotus energy drink from here too! Northern Grounds is a fantastic drive through coffee shop with lots of different flavor combinations for coffee-based drinks and Lotus energy drinks.
