Bluegrass Barrel House — Restaurant in Richmond

I really enjoy this place but I’m so tired of paying an arm and a leg to hang out here. Last night my friend and I show up with less than an hour til close and they still charge us cover which that’s fine and all but then I get 6 drinks and my total is 30$ but today it’s taken 39 dollars out of my bank account even though I paid my 30 and personally handed the bartender my tip in cash and I wrote cash on the receipt I signed. This is actually the second or third time this has happened to me at this very same bar. As in giving a cash tip and the bartender taking out over 20 percent of what the total was. Another issue I have with this bar is they “highly” enforce security as in having people with metal detectors at the door but don’t re-metal detector people who walk out to their car and then come back in. The interior of the bar itself is beautiful as well as the exterior patio on the back of the bar. I love the fireplaces on the picnic table outback as well as the lighting and overall ambiance it creates. However, drinks were very weak, it actually tasted like I was drinkimg blue Kool aid instead of a pixie stick, and my fiancee had a crown and coke that tasted like pure coke. He noted that what little alcohol he was able to taste in the drink, tasted like well liquor, not crown. The band was awesome, but the music that played thereafter by the dj, was not great at all. We came out with a couple of friends to celebrate my birthday a couple of weeks ago! It was quite fun, the staff all around were amazing. The bartenders all have great personalities and interact with you in a fun manner. The live entertainment that night was amazing and even though one of my friends told them a lie that I was 40 and I had to say I was definitely NOT 40, they were playful with it before singing a cover of The Beatles "Birthday".
