Terrible expeirence.
We have wanted to try this restaurant for some time, and decided to go yesterday.
When we walked in the doors there was no one around, but a table with menus/silverware.. we waited a few moments & then a woman we assumed was an employee walked nearby (she didn’t look like she worked there, no uniform) and I asked if we were supposed to seat ourselves anywhere. VERY sarcastically she said UM NO ILL SEAT YOU THATS MY JOB! I literally said okay well we were waiting and there was no sign.. this is our first time here so how are we supposed to know? She sat us at a table and told us that the computers were down so it would be awhile.
We sat for probably 15 minutes while others around us were served… I made eye contact with a server who asked if we had been helped. We said no and she said she would be over shortly. She took our drink order & we placed an order for wings and my husband got a cup of soup. The server dropped off two app plates & one was covered in a thick yellow substance. We asked for clean plates and showed her the dirty one and she didn’t even say sorry about that or anything. She’s like, yeah.. I’ll grab a new one. The drinks didn’t come until the appetizer/soup did. The wings weren’t great, very small portion.. and not much meat. The soup didn’t even come on a plate and was dripping all over the side, and it was $4.99!!!… and we only had one napkin each that our silverware came wrapped in. A short time later my husband’s bar drink arrived - it was good, but $11 is insane for a short glass bar drink.
We ordered our food. I got a chicken/mozzarella sandwich and asked to substitute my side for a salad. I was advised it would be an up charge which I said was fine.. but the salad was pathetic. I could have gotten 3 bags of lettuce from the grocery store for the price I paid for one little salad with limited toppings. The chicken sandwich was $14.99 and the salad up charge was $5.99!!
The place felt really dirty - we commented that the walls were filthy and just felt dirty eating there. My husband told me after we left that he didn’t want me to freak out, but there was a bug crawling behind me on the wall.
The bill was $82.24!!! That’s not including tip!
Texas Roadhouse is 1/2 the price, way better food & is consistent. Paisano’s is similar priced & 184738292x better! Seriously, avoid this place at all costs! It was the worst dining experience we have ever had. I would have had this conversation in person, but naturally no manager stopped by to ask how...
Read moreETA a response: No, my husband didn't hang up on you as that's impossible to do on a cell phone while it's next to your ear. Secondly, you "knew this review was coming", which means deep down, you knew your handling of the situation from the beginning was rude. As a business owner, your customer service is very lacking, as your reputation around town proceeds you. Perhaps taking some cues from your staff and son would be helpful as they are always seem to be professional and courteous.
Like I said, we asked if takeout was possible. If it was such a burden, you easily could have declined.
Ah, Doyle's, death by a thousand cuts. First, the food is generally good and the hired wait staff has always been friendly and on top of everything. That said I've heard rumors for years about the attitude of the owner and I finally got the experience tonight. To back up a bit over the past few years, first came the "card fee", even if you paid by cash. It was a deal to have the charge removed. Then came the "take out" fee, and then the "disposable silverware fee". Ok, nickel and dime me, I'll still chose occasionally to order out of convenience. Finally tonight, I got to experience the joy of The Owner. We walk in and ask if it's possible to place an order to go? She says yes, then proceeds to ask after each meal "Is that it?" like more than one meal is a bother (we ordered 3) Then she walks away without saying a word. Ok...a few minutes later she comes back with the bill and I offer to pay right away, so she was happy and polite then. I already felt bad taking an order out on a Friday night so I gave a 20% tip. Food comes out and she said "Ya know, eating here is so much better than eating out of Styrofoam". Yes, I know, but we wanted to get home after dealing with the death of an extremely close friend today.
We finally get home and the order is wrong. Husband calls to ask for a small credit on something small for our next order and her response is "Well what do you want me to do? It's busy and we're short staffed." We weren't looking to make a big deal but we paid over $65.00, so the offer of a token compensation would have been nice. Crappy ending to a crappier day. We can go elsewhere for better food, service, and not be nickel and dimed to death, so Brathaus or Herners it is.
I expect the same answer on here as others have received... it's the...
Read moreDown the road in a hotel and needed a place for lunch. Had to park on busy US Highway 12. Great themed, Irish Pub on a Friday afternoon. Old school, dark, wooden bar, with a small TV off to the side. Seats probably 15 at the bar and 25 at the tables. They seated our party of 7 right away. Drink orders were taken in a timely fashion and the food order taken upon delivery of drinks.
It is a small pub menu but plenty to choose from. Their Friday special was Fish and Shrimp Fry. Only two pieces of Cod (not like the website shows) but the fish and shrimp were excellently fried. The fries were seasoned wonderfully--coleslaw was an afterthought, but enjoyed the extra lemons squares they brought. Hamburgers were great, Nacho Grande was "Grande" with fresh, crunchy chips, the Quesadilla had plenty of cheese and salsa with it, and the Reuben seemed bland--maybe it was the "sweet" kraut we weren't used to. A fine selection of tap brews and a selection of specialty cocktails--I had the "John Daly" was was great.
Prices were a little higher then we'd like, but it is a small town, and in this poor economy it wasn't outrages. If we are ever back in town, we will...
