Gelati Celesti Ice Cream — Restaurant in Richmond

I took a Uber to get some groceries then realized my phone was off when I got there. So I went in here to sit down and pay my bill really quick. I thought they might have Wi-Fi which is why I went in there but they didn’t so I had to call my phone company. I’m on the phone with customer service and go into the bathroom to read off my account number because I didn’t want to read it out loud. And the boy that worked there kept knocking at the the door and jiggling the handle, while I was in there. I thought it was a customer at first then I went out and it was him. Him and the staff looked very irate from my presence, as if I wanted to like set up shop in their bathroom? I never had a Karen moment before but honestly when I looked at them i just seen Karen in all their faces. It was very uncomfortable and weird. And I feel like that was very mean. It was 2 white males and one white female. Very bad customer service I was gonna buy some ice cream but didn’t want to after that. Cold stones is better. Really good gelato from a local chain that has a smooth and creamy texture with a nice variety of flavor options. There are some unique flavors and the traditional favorites with some specialty flavors that have limited availability as they cycle through. The Dark as Dark, a coffee/espresso type ice cream has a nice strong flavor and there are a couple other coffee type flavors as well. The Tailgate's kettle corn base is really good, but the buttery taste can get a little cloying with time. As others have reviewed, the Chocolate Decadence is a very rich chocolate that should satisfy the cocoa lovers, while the Almond Amaretto is a nice compliment and blend of those two flavors. This was a nice refreshing treat and a small does look a little small in the waffle cone, but it is 2 scoops allowing you to try a couple different flavors and is satisfying. I’ve been wanting to try this place for yearsssss. So when I was in the area it was a no brainer. There were a lot of flavors to choose from and it took me a while to decide but ultimately I chose the honey badger and birthday cake flavors and got them in a waffle cone. I loved birthday cake but the honey badger was just ok. The stroopwaffle pieces in the honey badger were chewy especially being in the ice cream.

My boyfriend’s 2 scoops were rainbow cookie and strawberry cheesecake. The rainbow cookie 10/10! It was vanilla ice cream (I believe) and the ukrop’s rainbow cookies. Heaven. I’ll definitely be back for that flavor.
