Stopped by for the 2018 Black Restaurant Week. I tried the NC Style sandwich combo, with a side of mac & cheese and 2 slices of cake. The sandwich was pretty substantial, served with cole slaw and hot sauce on a potato bun. By itself, the sandwich is pretty filling. it had a good amount of meat. I was expecting more of a vinegar flavor, being that it was NC Style, but there wasn't much vinegar taste in my sandwich. I read where someone complained about the cole slaw, but I don't think it really added or took anything away from the sandwich. It didn't really stand out to me flavor-wise, but added some texture to the sandwich. The fries were essentially the same, thick cut, fries you would get at Five Guys, so if you like those (which I do) you will be happy with them. They filled the remaining space in the container with the fries, so you get a good portion, enough for probably two people. Only wish I had a bottle of malt vinegar to go pour on top. The macaroni and cheese had a weird flavor to me, not very cheesy. Not sure what kind of cheese they used or if this was a bad batch, but based on what i had to today, i would not get it again. The chocolate and lemon cakes, however, were both delicious. Can't think of too many other restaurants that I've had cake this good. For those who have never been, beware, it is carry out only. But the food was pretty good, the staff was friendly, and a pretty good value as well. I spent less than $20 for everything. I tried calling the location to order ahead but no one answers the phone. Also the prices are confusing online vs in the store. Good luck calling to verify and there’s no online ordering so I drove 20 minutes to the location and they are open. I placed an order for fried chicken, Mac and cheese, candied yams and collard greens, and sweet tea. My mom got potato salad and French apple pie. I absolutely love the chicken Omg amazing greens and the yams were perfect. The Mac and cheese needs some salt and pepper, also more cheese preferably. The tea tastes like tea with lemonade which I loved.

My mom said the potato salad had too big of chunks of the potatoes but she loved it regardless. Just be prepared to be in the hood and also wait at least 20 minutes because the food is fresh.

9/23/22 update: I went in today for the same meal and for some reason it was a total mistake. The price is listed as $12.75 but I was told the final price for 6 wings and two sides would be $16. I received my food and the wings had no breading on them at all. The Mac and cheese was not good either or the yams. I went back inside for a refund and was given it without any issues. I’ve tried to be loyal to this place but the food continues to go downhill while the prices go up.. I only eat chicken tenders an fries.. They use to have the best & the candy yams use to be awesome.. But now I paid 14.76$ for 3 kids size half a chicken tenders, overcooked fries that tasted like old oil, & their so called large drink which is actually a regular size.. I really wish I took a picture of the baby sized burnt tenders an fries they gave me.. I’ve had to get a refund the last 3 times I went.. I tried to give them multiple chances because the food use to be good.. I have no problem paying for what I want but the quality is now horrible..I really wish I would of took a picture of the baby tenders they gave me 1 didn’t even have meat in it .. I showed the cashier an he just looked an asked did I want my money back cause he saw it that food wasn’t right.. Then made me pay for my drink after I paid an waited 20 minutes for poor quality food..Everybody use to tell me how crazy I was for paying 12$ for 3 little tenders & fries an my excuse was they were good but not anymore.. smh How do you constantly mess up...
