First time stopping in at this location it was I believe a Tuesday night around 6:30.
Nice atmosphere, it is somewhat reminiscent of a western saloon. There is a bar service and tables on one side, and just regular dining tables on the other where we sat. Service is sort of partially self-serve in that you go up to a counter to order your pizza and they bring it out to you. Our waitress was very friendly and checked on our table and several others many times.
I had a pizza with pepperoni and mushrooms although I will say there were not nearly enough mushrooms on it. I could barely see or taste them. My son had a meat lovers pizza and he like that, but then again he is not picky. I also had garlic bread which was huge, like a whole pizza when I was expecting just a little tiny order of it. Unfortunately I cannot give the pizza a great review because for me it was over-the-top greasy. Now I like me some good old-fashioned greasy pizza but this was greasy to the point where if I ate too much of it I was going to be sorry all night and the next day. 🥺 The garlic bread had a delicious flavor but it to was very greasy.
This restaurant has a small selection of other items on their menu aside from pizza but honestly I doubt if I will return just because with money being so tight for everyone right now I can't waste money on pizza when the leftovers are going to get given away to somebody because they are too greasy for me to eat. That being said it is not necessarily a reflection on the restaurant, but more a commentary on my digestive system as I get older, I guess. If you are twenty years old and can handle that kind of food, hey...
Read moreWe saw this restaurant on our way through to Millersburg and Berlin Ohio. After reading their Google listing and reviews we decided to go back home and stopping in Monroeville to eat dinner here. Joann and I shared a small antipasto type salad and a medium taco pizza that was FANTASTIC!!!! We brought the last two slices home, but this was an amazing pizza, the crust was a fluffy texture that tasted like it had some contact with cornmeal. Instead of tomato sauce, it had taco sauce and taco seasoned ground beef and then two cheese (mozzarella and cheddar) a tangy banana peppers, thinly sliced red onions, cold lettuce and chopped tomatoes and was served sprinkled with cheddar cheese and they served with a medium taco sauce and sour cream. Again an awesome taco pizza. Nothing fancy but they also have a pizza buffet on 3 days a week from 4:30 to 8pm. We will drive the sixty miles to have that pizza again. The owner told us that her brother drives up from Columbus twice a month for their pizzas. So not silly for us to do it from Toledo. I recommend Pean's. Reasonable prices, good amounts and nothing fancy but food is delicious so I don't mind bussing my own table while leftovers are boxed by their staff. The salad and pizza came to just about $21 and we brought our own drinks in, water for Joann and I had chocolate milk. It's a usual thing with tomato sauce and American pepperoni. This didn't cause that....
Read moreWe stopped in here because we had to put our truck in the transmission shop around the corner and we were waiting for an Uber/lyft. We walked in and were promptly greeted and told how to order when we were ready. We headed over to the bar for a beer and an appetizer. They had a decent beer selection! I had a pumpkin cider that Debbie, the bartender, suggested because it was new. It was delicious. We ordered chicken wings to start. I prefer dry wings with sauce on the side. They came out right and were crispy goodness. We were still waiting for Uber to find us a ride....about an hour and a half in. So, we ordered a fold over. Now we had never heard of fold overs, but assumed it was similar to a calzone. I'd say it was better. We had the Sicilian and were impressed. Now, back to the Uber situation. Debbie overheard our situation and first came back with a cab company number. They didn't have availability. We were trying to go 28 miles away. In fact the cab owner said "no way possible". Ha! So at this point we're not sure what we're going to do. Debbie comes back with the owner of Peans/Mayor of Monroeville, who offers us a ride back to Port Clinton!!! I could not believe it. These guys went above and beyond. I would highly recommend going out of your way to try their fold overs! And ask for Debbie! She was a sweetheart! Thanks...
