It is with great disdain and disappointment that I must share my experience at this establishment. I regret to inform you that this was a horrible experience, and I am compelled to leave a one-star review.
Firstly, it took nearly 30 minutes to be seated despite the table being available for my party as soon as we arrived. This was an unacceptable delay, and I must say, it set the tone for the rest of the lunch.
The food took an extremely long time to arrive, about an hour, which was simply preposterous. We ordered the kids' meals with the drinks so that our little ones would get their food early, but they didn't receive their meals for a full hour. One of the kids' meals was actually the very last to come after about an hour and fifteen minutes. I cannot stress enough how inconvenient this was for us.
We spoke to a manager after waiting for 50 minutes with no update or anything, but they were of little help.
When the food finally arrived, we were all disappointed in the quality. The ingredients tasted cheap and bland. I must say, I do not know what happened to this place because it used to be good.
All of this could have been forgiven with some sort of gesture or even a mere apology, but none came.
Perhaps worst of all, since we were a party of eight (including kids), they included a mandatory 20% gratuity. I ask you, how can a bottom 5 restaurant experience of my entire life warrant a 20% tip? It is simply outrageous.
Needless to say, we will not be going back ever. I implore you to reconsider your choices and think twice before dining at this...
Read moreI visited Sombra with my sisters on my final night in town. I was majorly disappointed in the food, imposed 20% gratuity for bad food, and the fact that my sisters did not enjoy their meals. Sombra claims to be authentic, but the chicken and steak tasted processed or like the type of meat you would purchase in a quick fajitas meal kit. The shrimp was under cooked. There was no flavor or love in the food. The sour cream tasted spoiled, which is a major health concern. The waitress did not seem to care if we were happy with our meals and I made a few requests that she overlooked or just simply forgot. I don't beg so I just left it alone. So, why not send back the food? Well, there were 10 of us, 4 adults and 6 children. My niece was the first to admit that the meat in her meal did not taste "right" and my sister sent it back. So, I reflected back to a social media post from an incident at Bonefish in Madison where a group of African American female professionals were out celebrating and spoke up about their meal and service and was accused of being a problem, kicked out, and cops were called and decided that 40 dollars was not worth that drama. However, I did inform the female manager as we were leaving about the food and also asked if a 20% gratuity was the policy for a group of 10, she said yes and I told her that I did not agree with that. She never asked for my name or contact information but stated that she would pass along my complaint to the general manager. She did not sound genuine, so...
Read moreMy girlfriend ordered the lunch chalupas with grilled chicken and the side salad with blue cheese dressing to go after eating in the restaurant with a friend. Erika was the waitress. When she got home, there was no grilled chicken as ordered for the chalupas, no side salad, and no bluecheese dressing, no cheese, or pico degalo. The chalupa shells were brown and as hard as a brick. She called the restaurant to tell them about the screwed up to go order, and that is when they told her they don't have blue cheese dressing. She asked them why didn't the waitress (Erika) inform of that when the order was placed? Nothing but crickets in response. My girlfriend then had to ask three times to speak to the manager. When they finally got him on the phone, she told him what happened and then requested a refund for the screwed up to go order. He refused, but offered a gift certificate instead. He didn't say for how much on the phone. Now the lunch clalupa meal was $11.90 + tax and tip. She drove 20 miles back to the restaurant to pick up the gift certificate which was only for $10 when she arrived, which didn't even cover the cost the screwed up order. We usually eat there quite often, but after this, we won't be back to eat there again. The food and service have gone down hill. We highly recommend that everyone take their business elsewhere to eat! Seems you no longer get what you pay for at Sombra in...
