Armando's Tuscan Grill — Restaurant in River Vale

The food is good, but service very slow. We had 11 people and I know they won't usually do separate checks, even though almost every restaurant we go to these days have no issue with separate checks. However, some of our group have alcohol drinks and some have soup or appetizers, therefore it's not fair for them to just split the bill evenly. We were celebrating a retirement for a woman in our group. The woman organizing the dinner party called ahead to ask if it would be at all possible for separate checks and she was very nice and said it would be possible. It was obvious the waitress was not happy about it. Her service was good, but after we were done, we waited for a very long time to get our checks, an unusually long time! Some people would have liked a dish of ice cream for dessert instead of the desserts offered, and the waitress said they ran out! We wound up going to Curry Freeze for ice cream for those that preferred ice cream over the dessert choices. Again, food was good, a little pricey for some of the entrees, like the special, which was a lobster tail and two small veal or chicken pieces batter dipped, for $30. CANNOT say enough amazing things about this restaurant. My husband & I moved nearby and went here for the first time about 2 years ago for a BYOB date night. And thank god we did!!!!! The food is absolutely mouth watering delicious, blows the NYC spots out of the water, and honestly the best authentic Italian food in NJ. From their thin crust pizza, thin crispy chicken parm cutlet, mouth watering lemony francese, minestrone soup, and much much more.. everything they make is homemade from Armando himself. My family and I had the best experience! My brother and I took my toddler son here for dinner. From the moment we arrived and asked for a table, the staff took incredible care of us. They were so kind and accommodating for my son - they put us at a larger table for comfort, took his order quickly and provided extra utensils and plates for him without asking, and they brought over toys and a coloring book to keep him busy while we ate. Linda and Marc were so lovely and kind, they went above and beyond for us and it really meant a lot. AND the food was great, we will definitely be going back.
