The first time I ever heard of Corner Cafe was when I was about 10 or 12 years of age, but I first ate there a few years ago. The Corner Cafe location in Riverside, Missouri is the original location for the local chain of homestyle comfort food restaurants, and I would like to say that the place has some really good foods. Corner Cafe got is name because there had always been a small restaurant at the “Corner” in Riverside, MO, but before 1983 it had changed names and hands several times. Many of the residents living in Riverside wanted to see a return to the old-style cafe that had existed there years before and was an icon of its time (Reese’s Cafe). Founders Ed and Kathi Rule had never been in the restaurant business before, but the couple had always felt that they knew what good food was all about. Corner Cafe first started on May 15, 1983 starting as a little 40-seat cafe that served breakfast and lunch on weekdays, Monday through Friday, and then on to serving dinner and being on the weekends, and finally expanding Corner Cafe with two more locations with the second location in Liberty, Missouri and the third location in Independence, Missouri. The menu at Corner Cafe features common homestyle and comfort meals such as breakfast, sandwiches, burgers, salads, daily lunch specials, dinner platters, and even bakery treats such as pies, cakes, puddings, and ice cream treats too. One thing that me and my family like to order from Corner Cafe is the Sticky Bun cinnamon roll that is full of pecans and is filled with with gooey, chewy, syrupy, and sweet flavors that go along the crunch of pecans. The last time I went to Corner Cafe was back in late May 2021, and I went their in the morning for breakfast time. The thing I ordered at Corner Cafe was the Classic Egg Platter combo of Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs, which was served with two side dishes but one of them was served on a separate plate. I would like to say that every time I visit or order food from Corner Cafe, it is always delicious and the service is always useful and friendly. On the outside of the Corner Cafe restaurants in Riverside and Liberty, there is a windmill, and the Riverside location got its windmill from Kathi Rule’s farm owned by her family. The windmill was moved to Corner Cafe’s Riverside location as symbol of how Corner Cafe first got started after all the years of farming and large summer gardens have provided the appreciation of freshly cooked homestyle comfort food. The Liberty location for Corner Cafe also had a windmill built for its location, and the Liberty location was built in May 2004. However, Corner Cafe’s Independence location does not have windmill, but it has a silo similar to the common silo seen on a farm. The Independence location for Corner Cafe was built in December 2008. If customers are looking for a restaurant that serves homestyle and classic American-style comfort foods inside a old-style cafe building, I would say that Corner Cafe is the place to visit and even order food for takeout or even delivery as well. Corner Cafe has daily specials for cooked meals, and even daily dessert specials from the bakery too.

The Corner Café in Riverside, Missouri, is a Kansas City legend, one of my favorite go-to, comfort-food, breakfast places if you just want down home big breakfast that will last you until dinner. Recently took loved ones out to breakfast after a weekend get-together and tried something new there. I tried chicken fried steak, which literally brought me back to a childhood memory of when my mom made this for my dad. The meat was so tender that you could cut it with a fork… and topped with gravy, what could be better?! Well, hashbrowns on the side, of course! I don’t like this every day, but if I did, I would be here a lot more! All of our eggs were cooked to perfection, and you can’t ask for better biscuits and gravy. I have to tell you about the ambience. Despite the long waits at the door, it doesn’t feel like it’s a beehive of activity inside once you’re seated. Those waitresses are working like mad! The thing is, you would never know it. You don’t feel a frenzy or a hustle and bustle. These ladies know what they’re doing and they’ve been doing it for a long time. Take Patty, our waitress.…she was remarkable! Ask for her station next time you visit. She gave us five-star attention, and I noticed that she did it for everyone she served. How lucky the Corner Café is to have her as one of their waitresses! By the way, I just met her the day we went out for brunch. I do not know her personally. If you like these kinds of iconic breakfast places, turn your sights to just across the river from downtown to the Corner Café in Riverside. ❤️yum!❤️

The customer service was great by the staff. The food- I ordered some popular dishes like the ham and cheese ommlettes, eggs overeasy, bacon , French toast with a side of strawberries and a fresh cinnamon roll. For a drink I had a latte. The omelet was not cooked thoroughly, the ham was oversized cubed and the cheese was not fully melted, there was no seasoning to the omelet. 1 out of 10. The bacon was cooked to perfection. 10 out of 10. The egg overeasy had the right amount of salt and pepper 9 out of 10. The French toast was highly disappointing. Bland in flavor, too much butter. Also do not order the side of fruit for 2.50 it it's frozen strawberry topping and comes in a very small ramican. Highly unsatisfying give this a 1 out of 10. Chicken fried chicken with mash potatoes, gravy corn and bread. The mashed potatoes were so good with the cream hostile gravy hit the spot. The chicken fried chicken was salted and seasoned just right the chicken was tender and the fried outer later was not over fried or tough. The corn, was corn. The bread was massive and fluffy. Give this an 8.4 out of 10. The cinnamon roll is one of their bakery specialties and I give it a 8 out of 10. Overall on the food I recomend checking out there lunch menu over their breakfast menu unless your sticking to the basics when it comes to breakfast. The atmosphere is nice they had classic early 80's music playing with photos and signs on all the walls classic Harleys from the 20's throughout the restaurant. The decor didn't really match their music choice which through it off slightly. A great place to bring young ones for birthday cake or pies
