I ordered $880 worth of food from their catering menu. Expecting it to be enough to feed 50 people at our party. We did the math together with the manager and chef before ordering and ended up placing an order for 60 people even though I only had 50 at the party (just to play it safe). I am not sure where the message got distorted but I was expecting full trays of chicken and ropa vieja. To my disappointment upon pick up, I received half size trays of both. Out of fear of running out of food, I decided to order two more trays of protein from a different place that cost me half the price and tasted better. To be clear, I can't speak for the restaurant sit down experience or the individual plates that they serve. I only ordered from their catering menu. However, when everyone at the party asked me where I got the food from, I referenced the other place. I simply want to raise awareness so that the next person that orders from their catering menu gets realistic expectations. Also, I ordered two sticks of Cuban bread, sliced in portions, with butter, and ready to be served. Only one of the sticks was cut and spread with butter, the other one I was not able to serve since they gave it to me whole. I had explained to them that I wouldn't have a knife at the party to be able to cut the bread. Would I have known, I would have gotten the bread from "La Segunda Bakery" myself instead of paying extra. I am anxious to hear the excuses from the manager since I noticed that she replies to all the comments and always seems to be short staffed or has a rain cloud that followed her around that day. By they way, I am glad that I got the extra two trays as back up since we almost...
Read moreI’ve been to this place about 3 times. The food is good but I must say the prices are high and the service is LOW. It’s not a surprise that when I read the reviews after my bad experience a “rude woman” is frequently mentioned here. I was served by this woman and I also experienced her very low level tier service. It’s unfortunate because customer service is key, I don’t care how “good” your food may be. For this meal, I asked for sweet plantains inside my omelette. At the end of our meal I learned I was charged $3 for the special request. To be fair if something is not included in a dish you should absolutely have to pay extra HOWEVER it’s the servers job to mention the additional charge especially if it’s going to be a whole $3 (which I can honestly say (most people would think is too high for the specific item) She was thoroughly annoyed at my pointing out the charge and then also bothered by our request for takeout containers. Every aspect of the meal was ruined by her attitude. I don’t care to spend my money there. It also seems like she is the designated person replying to bad reviews which mostly address HER bad service. Shame on...
Read moreIf you want authentic, delicious Cuban food, this is a must try.
We started with beef empanadas, and we liked them so much that we ordered more to go. We also tried the papa rellena. The potato mixture was yummy.
The three dinner entrees ordered were the : bistec de Pollo al ajilllo (at the recommendation of staff), the rabo encendido (oxtails), and the special chuletas fritas (fried pork chops). All the entrees came with 2 sides, and of course, we all had rice and beans. We all enjoyed our meals and tried each other and we couldn't decide which one was the best. They were all neck and neck. 😀😃
We were pleasantly surprised walking in. We thought it would be more like a cafeteria experience, but it was a sit-down reataraunt. There is indoor and outdoor table availability.
Staff were great and helpful. Prices were reasonable. Bear and wine options. Cuban coffee is available.
We will definitely return. There is no place like this around, and it was such a nice switch up for us. ...
