I went to Village Inn to have a nice brunch with my two-year-old daughter. The hostess was on the phone when we walked in the door, and soon a line formed behind us of others watining to be seated. It was 10 am, and by no means, rush hour. We waited a total of about five minutes to be seated, which is a bit ridiculous considering the place was not very busy. After being seated, we waited about 10 minutes for the waitress to come by. By then, we were ready to order our food. I ordered a scrambler with pancakes. The picture showed eggs scrambled up with peppers, onions, ham, and bacon, topped with gravy and a side of hashbrowns. It also came with three pancakes. When I got the food, in a decent amount of time, it was a skillet full of country potatoes. There were peppers, mushrooms, onions, tomatoes, and cheese mixed in with the potatoes and the scrambled eggs sat on top of that mess, were plain, and undercooked. There were no hashbrowns, just country potatoes and no gravy at all. I ate a few bites of it but the potatoes filled me up quite a bit. I was also offered a free piece of pie for pie Wednesday, which was the only good part of the experience. The waitress came after the food was delivered to ask which pie I would like. When she came, she handed me the pie and the check and then ignored me for the rest of the time. The manager walked by a few times, along with several other waitresses. Nobody asked if I needed anything else, which I needed a box to put my plate of potatoes in so I could use them later. (If I pay 10 dollars for something, I am going to get my use out of it) I also needed a box for the pancakes so my daughter could eat them later. Anyway, nobody ever stopped, my waitress kept walking by and looking at me but never stopped, even when I nodded at her to come by. I use to work in the service industry and hold the utmost respect for servers. This woman was by no means a professional, and clearly hated her job, which made my experience at Village Inn unpleasant. I finally just got up and left to pay for my food without ever getting a box. The manager was helping to buss tables but never once went around to ask individual tables how their experience was. Had he done that he would have known that he had an unhappy customer in his store, as a good manager would. While paying for my food the hostess asked how everything was, and I replied "Not very good" to which she smiled and gave no reply. Had the roles been reversed, I would have asked what was wrong and retrieved my manager immediately to assess the situation. All in all, the experience was terrible and I left upset that I paid 11 dollars for food that was not appealing at all. I should have complained to get my money back, but it is just not in me to make a scene, especially with my two-year-old in my arms. I was really excited to try this place out and report back to my husband so we could come here again, but that will not be happening. I will never...
Read moreAs a frequent patron of the Village Inn restaurant—especially while my vehicle is being serviced nearby at Firestone—I’ve consistently appreciated the welcoming atmosphere and the consistently pleasant demeanor of the waitstaff. The breakfast menu remains a standout, and it's become a reliable spot for a comforting meal during my wait.
However, I recently visited the location on a Wednesday and encountered a situation that left me both confused and disappointed. It was during this visit that I became aware of the “Free Pie Wednesday” promotion, which offers a complimentary slice of pie with the purchase of an entrée. I was genuinely delighted, particularly as I’m an enthusiastic fan of their coconut cream pie.
When I selected coconut cream as my slice of choice, I was informed by my server that the promotion only includes fruit pies and seasonal pies. This was surprising, as the promotional postcard I observed featured an image of a French Silk pie—without any asterisk or notation clarifying limitations on the eligible pie types. When I asked for clarification and indicated I’d be happy to pay for the coconut cream slice, the manager responded dismissively and added that French Silk was in fact included, but not coconut cream. This was confusing, as French Silk is neither a fruit pie nor typically considered seasonal.
This inconsistency raises questions about the integrity of the promotion and whether this particular location is deviating from corporate policy by selectively offering pies based on internal preferences or inventory control, possibly favoring lower-demand options. I ultimately accepted a slice of pumpkin pie, but unfortunately found it unpalatable and discarded it after a single bite.
While I remain a supporter of Village Inn for its service and breakfast offerings, I would encourage corporate to review how promotions are communicated and enforced at the store level. Transparency and consistency are essential to maintaining customer trust and...
Read moreWe used to always go to Village Inn we loved it our whole family would go however the last time we went we were charged a 17 percent surcharge we went ahead and stayed because we were already there but we will not be returning to Village Inn because of that surcharge it is not for the waitress when I talk to the manager he could not tell me what the surcharge was for so I hope someone at Village Inn like a district manager will get this message that you guys are losing a lot of customers because I called another restaurant and I'm going to not named them however they said they have a lot of people coming in that used to go to Village Inn that have stopped going to Village Inn because of the 17 % surcharge!!! so y'all are losing lots of customers, and as I said earlier y'all just lost us as a customer along with the friends that we go with to have breakfast at Village Inn and it's a shame that y'all are ripping people off with a 17% surcharge because I've called other restaurants and they said they are absolutely not doing that and they have gotten a lot of customers that are leaving Village Inn and coming to their restaurant but that's up to you if you want to start losing money by charging people 17% surcharge on their order that is outrageous and really sad that you would do this to your loyal customers and we used to be one of your loyal customers however we will not be returning as long as y'all are charging people 17% surcharge and then can't even explain what the surcharge for, is also interesting I called a couple other places they are also not charging a surcharge you just pay for the food and that's it and of course I always leave a tip for the waitress but I am not paying 17% surcharge just because y'all want to rip people off!!!! I will not recommend anybody to go to Village Inn!!!! And just for your information The Village Inn I'm talking about is located in...
