Hunam Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Roanoke Rapids

You know, there are days and times which make me choose to "slink off quietly" and do things alone, by myself, FOR me. HUNAM restaurant was my choice for some PEACE. It is not usually an overcrowded restaurant post-usual-lunch time. True this day as I figured. One is not "rushed out" by wait staff; flip side, they may not check on any needs that arise as fast as one may wish. Pointedly, checking for drink refills, a dropped fork or extra napkin requests. But, they are always fine, and smiling(!) even if flagging them down seems the appropriate choice! I enjoy the light quality of a Chinese restaurant. It's not at all heavy Southern- style fare. Here were my delights for my special, Me-Time-Luncheon. ●Hot & Sour Soup [ which I mix 2/3 H&S and 1/3 Egg Drop Soup ] ●Crispy Noodles to top my soup? YES PLEASE! ● Deep fried, tho very sweet and tender, imitation Crab Leg Style meat ●Tender fried Fish Chunks ●Boiled or Steamed Fresh Shrimp and Cocktail Sauce alongside...I bump it up a notch by stirring a bit of hot sauce into it and a squeeze of lemon juice on top, then a tiny sprinkle of salt. 😋 yum tasty! Other, usual Chinese Buffet choices abound including but never limited to: Crispy Egg Rolls Sesame Chicken Beef n Broccoli Moo Goo Gai Pan Chicken Wings, Sweet n Sour Chicken The list truly could go on and on. There are many delicious dessert choices available including fresh fruit. My choice was a Fortune Cookie! It read: " The choices you make may require chances to take" Obviously, good thought provocation presented! If you are ISO a Chinese Buffet Style Restaurant; please give Hunam a decent whirl! DINNER COST WAS $16.00 LUNCH I believe WAS $12.00 Before3pm. There is also a hibachi style grill for dine -in clientele. It smelled so good! But, I was too full to partake this time. I WILL Visit them again. MAYBE I'LL SEE YOU!

Horrible experience!!!! They charged full price for my 8 and 12 year old son and daughter. I asked Manager about kids pricing. He stated the price was up to 8. I stated to him that my son was 8 so need one at kids prize. Then he stated there was a height limit and my son was too tall. I stated that was ridiculous and asked him to give some off my bill. Manager stated no and I asked so you can't take $5 off. He then replied do you want me to call the police. I stated yes please. The police showed up and I was telling them about the situation. The one office stated they have had problems here before about the height limit on kids buffet. They also stated there was nothing they could do so I would have to pay the bill. My bill was $40.50 and I gave the manager $40. The manager then Stated the bill is $40.50. I said you can't even cover 50 cent. He stated no and I gave him the 50 cent. Food wasn't that great either. Didn't have a lot of flavor. Was the worst customer service I have ever experience. Don't see how a Manger can treat a customer that way and not care about maybe...

Staff was ok, food was bland and lemonade was watered down. When one of my kids found a spider on her watermelon and dropped it I called for my server. My kid had dropped the watermelon in fear. The server called the manager over where she picked up the bug and watermelon and said we ll I’m not giving all of you free food cuz the spider isn’t even wet… with her bare hands. She proceeded to charge us for 5 adults because our whole party was 3 adults and 9 kids and that was too much food. We even hadn’t been there for 20 mins. Mind you My husband found dead flies all in the windows. Headed out and home my kids took turns regurgitating their food. First and last visit ever. Im disappointed cuz I trusted these Google reviews to find some place to eat otw home from VA and you all steered me wrong. Their sanitation rating was a 90 I should have known better smh.
