This is the WORST DQ in Roanoke! Rude, disorganized, lie to customers' faces, obviously hate their job and will let everyone know it.
I went in Saturday for a birthday cake my mom ordered for me last week (I'm using her account to write this because I don't have an account for this). I had the receipt on my app and pulled up the card from the link DQ sent to my phone.
The first woman I spoke to was very rude and literally, her words, told me to wait because she didn't have time for me. I stood there while several other people walked in and she helped them before me (sort of -- a manager had to complete an order that this 1st woman walked away from without finishing the order).
When the 1st woman finally called me up, I explained very clearly that I was there to pick up a cake that had been ordered.
She said, "Wait .. you're what?" with a rude tone.
I repeated myself, even saying I was sorry because maybe I didn't speak loudly or clearly enough.
Again, she said, "I don't know what you want. What are you asking?"
AGAIN, I repeated myself.
How many times did I have to tell her I was there for a cake?
I gave her my name 3 times and my mom's name 3 times to check whose name it was under.
Finally, around the 4th time, she goes, "Oh, you're here for a cake? You had me all confused because that's not what you said."
Are you serious?!?!
She went to the back and returned with some weird green cake and someone else's name, slamming it down on the counter like she really hated her job. I told her that wasn't mine and showed her the picture from the e-mail of what my cake looked like (a pre-made DQ chocolate cake, not custom, with Happy Birthday on it).
She glared at me, rolled her eyes, brought it to the back, and returned with my cake. She slammed it on the counter so hard, the lid came off and I had to struggle, without her help, to get it back on.
She asked if I paid for it online. I told her I had a gift card and wasn't sure if it had been paid for (shouldn't they already know? how many people steal cakes because they don't even bother to check??).
She said, "What do you mean a gift card?"
I showed her the link AGAIN and she said it couldn't be used for that, then she said they don't accept gift cards. It seemed to me like she wanted me to pay for it another way so she wouldn't have to deal with entering the gift card.
At this time, someone overheard and came to help her. This 2nd lady was nice but she didn't know how to enter a gift card, either. How do the employees of a DQ not know how to enter a DQ gift card? Makes no sense!
After asking someone else and looking up something, she finally found it and told the 1st woman.
The 1st woman entered the gift card number and gave me a snide look as she said, "It's invalid. This code isn't real," or something like that to suggest I faked something.
The 2nd woman gave her kind of a side stare like she knew she was lying. The 2nd woman entered the number and WOW! Magic! It worked!
I was in there for almost half an hour just to pick up a freaking cake! All because the 1st woman took people before me who came in after me and then treated me like trash pretending not to understand simple orders and pretending my gift card wasn't real. I wish I had caught her name but my mom was waiting outside and we had to hurry to get home for my birthday party before the cake melted.
NEVER EVER...
Read moreYou either LOVE Dairy Queen, or driving by is no big deal. I happen to love Dairy Queen! I can find more things at a DQ that I enjoy more than any other ice cream/ fast food place that I can think of...
Love smoothies? DQ makes great ones, and will add in things like a fresh banana if you so desire.
Like Milkshakes? I don't think that I have ever gotten one at DQ that didn't "hit the spot"!
Feeling naughty? The Peanut Buster Parfait, Hot fudge sundaes, Banana Splits, Dilly Bars & incredible ice cream cakes are so luscious that naughty turns to nice! Want something thicker than a milkshake but not as hard as ice cream? Pick any one of the Blizzards, and you choose the mix-ins! Fabulous on a hot OR cold day!
Need some real food? The chicken strip basket with cream gravy is outstanding (although I could do without the toast and fries! If you're like me just order however many tenders you want and make SURE to get the gravy!)
Hamburgers, Coney Dogs - plain or packed - all do nicely for a dinner on the run. (If my dogs are with me, they INSIST on 2 plain hot dogs, hold the buns...)
Staff is always pleasant, orders almost always right, and while the dining rooms are slowly reopening, I'm a drive thru fan, myself!
One thing I feel that Dairy Queen can guarantee: you WON'T get a bad meal or dessert...
