May 16. 2024 I would like to tell the management about our experience on the evening of May 13. It is obvious to me that the high turnover of employees and perhaps poor hiring practices has resulted in chaos and poor customer service at the Rochester location. I would like to point out that we like to stop in for a drink or bite at this location because it is on our way home. I would not call ourselves regulars, but we do drop in about once every 6 weeks or so after a day trip. And I would like to point out that about 2 months ago when we dropped in the team on duty was professional and fun. They were giving a going away event for an employee and it was a lot of fun. We even contributed to her trip to Oregon.
This past Monday we dropped in for a drink and a small pie. Immediately I knew that something was wrong. The speaker system was turned up so loud that it was obnoxious, and you could barely have a conversation. We ordered our drink and small pie. While we were eating our pie the person making the pizza pies and another employee were playing catch across the length of the bar with small plastic containers of dough. Several employees were having a conversation at the register area, and you could hear them cursing. The pie did not have enough sauce in our opinion, so we ordered additional sauce. We were given a type of tomato paste and it was cold. Who puts cold tomato paste on hot pizza?
As we were eating, we noticed a female employee that was sitting at a table, and she had place pizza boxes on the floor. Some of them were wrapped in plastic but many of them were not. My girlfriend immediately went to the register area hoping to speak with the manager on duty. She waited for approximately 10 minutes even though there were 4 employees behind the bar. Finally, someone came up to the register and stated that there was no manager on duty. When my girlfriend pointed out the pizza boxes on the floor and the lack of sauce on the pizza, the employee immediately got defensive and started yelling. My girlfriend immediately left, and the employee continued to yell as she was leaving.
As I was leaving, I passed by the female employee who finally placed the boxes on the table but now had placed her elbows in a pizza box and was talking on her cell phone. As I passed her, I remarked that placing the pizza boxes on the floor was gross, she stated “no one asked for your opinion” in a very nasty tone of voice and as I walked out the door she stated, “and don’t come again.”
The crew (not a team) was in our opinion a pack of juvenile delinquents and management needs to take responsibility and take...
Read moreTuesday night, 8:00pm. My wife and I decided to try the place. The decor is ok, The staff was friendly and attentive. The receipt said “Courtney”. The food was good, not great. My main issue with many places like this is that they have a large bar area and decided to sell pizza and such as an afterthought. When my wife and I arrived, there was an older couple sitting at a table and four young adults seated at the bar. The group at the bar were obviously impaired. Very loud, boisterous, and using obscene language loudly and frequently. I don’t think I heard the F-bomb that much since my military days. The only action the staff did was provide more drinks. We sat for a few minutes cringing, and being grateful there were no children present. We decided to change our order from dine in, to take out. I explained that the group of drunks were way too loud and vulgar to enjoy our food there. The server shrugged and said ok. The food. We both ordered chicken w/ fries meal. Bone in and boneless tenders. The portions are generous. The chicken was good. Not great. The fries were cooked well. Crispy outside, soft inside. So, if you’re older and like a friendly atmosphere, or if you have children, please do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. If you want to go to a bar and eat food that you don’t care what it tastes like because your drunk, this is your kind of place! I hope the expansion they are currently in the middle of separates the bar from the restaurant and they focus more on the food and the atmosphere separately from the alcohol side. I’m not against drinking and having a good time. There should be a limit on obnoxious inebriated behavior so that it does not deter people like us from returning to the place.
UPDATE: after the owner’s response. Well, I knocked it down to 1 star. If I wanted cheap, mass produced food, I would have gone to BWW. My wife and I prefer to go to the individually / family owned shops because they usually try harder. We visited and were unimpressed. I take issue with your response. As the owner, you’re telling a customer that was less than satisfied to go elsewhere because you didn’t like my review? I complimented areas such as the decor and the pleasant waitstaff, generous portions, and good French fries. I will correct myself, I did not try the pizza. I should not have commented about it. You stated that BWW has no F*s to give, but you do. F the folks that write bad reviews, and F to me. You win. We’ll take your advice and go elsewhere. Good luck on your expansion and future business. ps: My name...
Read moreThis is a difficult review to write. I got a veggie sub, French fries, fried dough bites, and a mushroom pizza.
Veggie subs are tough to get right. Without meat to carry it, the individual components need to be really fresh and tasty. This one was absolutely delicious. The french fries were as too, with great texture and seasoning. The fried dough bites were also very very good.
Unfortunately, it fell flat in the most important area: the pizza. If like me you don't like a heavy amount of sauce, this may not be for you. There was a great deal of it which made the pizza fairly wet. This was compounded by the fact that the crust was very soft and much more lightly cooked than I see elsewhere. The mushrooms too had much more moisture than I usually see, and was not a fan of the flavor. The sauce-heaviness was also made worse by another large problem, the cheese. There wasn't a lot of it and what was there was not well distributed. Great coverage on a couple but very sparse others. One I just tossed because it had close to none. Given the starring role it had, it was unfortunate I did not care for the flavor of the sauce at all.
There may be some people who really like the sauce and a lot of it, so it's hard to give it too poor of a review. If your tastes are like mine though it may not be for you. But if you're not craving pizza and just was a veggie sub and french fries I don't know that you can get any better than this.
I received the order via Door Dash so I can't speak to the service or atmosphere. I ordered mozzarella sticks that didn't show, but I'd put a solid bet on that being a...
