Ana's Cafe — Restaurant in Rock Falls

Normally, I really enjoy this place; the relaxed atmosphere, decent food, good prices. Our last visit, however, the quality of the place really went downhill.

During our last visit, there were 2 waitresses and approximately 8 customers between 3 tables. The food came out hot, but the fettucine alfredo I ordered had no sauce, extremely grainy, but it was hot fresh from the kitchen. Our waitress couldn't be bothered to help us, she was too busy swiffering the rug instead of checking on customers or refilling drinks. All tables had to wait 5-10 minutes each for refills.

The other waitress couldn't speak English, so she was trying to avoid tables where she could. I will say that when she did finally come over, she tried, but she was so slow at getting things, we almost gave up.

The poppers have also changed in quality, and not for the better. Normally they offer very good cream cheese poppers, but they switched to something with bacon / cheddar cheese inside with a bacon topping crust. Not very good.

The check had an extra charge on it that wasn't explained by the waitress. I asked twice and finally got my answer when I went up to pay the check and refused to hand over payment until they explained the extra charge. Once they did, I understood and paid it immediately, but why should I have to go to that much trouble to get an answer about one charge I didn't understand?

My Friend and I have been wanting to try the new place. Ana’s in Rock Falls . Today was the day. Inside very nice and clean. Bright and inviting. So disappointed. I ordered an open face turkey sandwich. #1 Gravy was very lumpy, I asked for it on the side but it was put on . Waitress even wrote , gravy on side. Cook didn’t pay attention to that detail. She wanted to take it back but I said no. #2 the so called Turkey was awful. To me it wasn’t regular Turkey breast. It seemed to be canned I just never seen Turkey like what I was served . It was thick sliced and seemed to be warmed on the grill. It was to me awful. #3 order mushroom Swiss burger to go for my husband. Canned mushrooms were used. That’s a disappointment, Swiss cheese seemed to be a sauce of some kind not a regular slice of Swiss cheese. My husband scraped off the mushrooms and the so call Swiss cheese. What a huge disappointment. My friend and I will never go back. It’s a shame cause the place looks great. Just goes to show , you cant judge a book by the cover. Been coming here a little bit now since the rebrand from Gazi's to now Ana's Cafe. My first visit i started with some basic that all restaurants/diners should do: chicken tenders and fries. Compared to the other places in town and in Sterling.....this is some good chicken tenders 😋 The way the plate was also presented was cute different.....they had my fries inside a mini fryer holder as if it came straight from the fryer. Presentation is everything. I liked it. The soup here is pretty amazing as well. And let me tell you, I didn't want to just come for lunch......so I came for breakfast a few times as well. You can't go wrong with the breakfast menu and the Lumberjack is worth it. You get so much food for the price. You will leave stuffed and happy. The waitresses and hosts are kind and friendly and not stuck up, stubborn, or give off the vibes of being shady. The good environment here is always positive. I even started bringing my dad here and he also enjoys coming here now. I can definitely come here and count on great food, service, and...
