The excellent: Only Indian joint in the area.
The good: Fast, decent portion of main dish and absolutely perfectly prepared, no screwing around authentic Indian food. Super-tasty, Korma was PERFECT
The not-so-great: Rice portion was a third or less of what I would expect for a main dish like a korma. Isn't white rice like,what,10 cents-a-silo? why the tiny kiddie rice portion of the least-pricey ingredient?
Called 'em - asked for "A chicken korma, extra-sweet" no weird back and forth -he simply repeated back my order confirming the extra-sweet and said "You can pick it up in 15 minutes" wow, that's fast and he was right on time if not early and super nice. Only other issue probably isn't fair to kvetch about given everything is expensive nowadays and I'm coming at this from the indian-food-spoiled angle of having lived in UK the past 20 years where you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a cheap hole-in-the-wall Indian takeaway - but $14 bucks for (an admittedly above-average super delicious) indian takeout and teeny-tiny portion of rice seems excessive. But they are a high-quality Indian food flower in the Sauk Valley desert so worth every penny.
Will definitely return for a proper sit-down meal there in the future, this is a local business that deserves waaaay more support than what I witnessed at 5:45 on a Sat night. S/RF people need to get on board and give this awesome place a try. Indian food is the best...would hate to see this place close because people not just giving them a shot. Go there and get a Tikka Masala if you're new to Indian food, you...
Read moreThis place was great y'all! 👌🏽😋 I've actually only ever eaten Indian food that was homemade by friends or their mommas, lol. And I of course fell in love with it! 😍 lol. So I've really been wanting to try the food at an Indian restaurant and had the opportunity to go with some friends/church sisters, and I was not disappointed! I had the Chicken Curry and Chai Tea. I love Chai Tea and there's was the usual sweet creaminess you expect with Chai Tea. The Chicken Curry had the perfect amount of spicy kick to it that you'd expect in a curry dish. Yumm! And every order, each person automatically gets a big dish of some yummy, lightly seasoned, white rice too! 🍚 We all 4 each got a different flavor of the Naan bread so that we'd all be able to share and get to sample every flavor they had. Cheese Naan, wow! I had never heard of that before, Idk if it even necessarily traditional Indian style of making the Naan, but Yumm.. 🤤 There was a Chilé Naan and Yumm again! Garlic Naan, Yummm, the more plain Butter Naan, just classic and traditional but always good too! 😍 The owner was our server and he was great! Very friendly and kind. Treated us women of color just so extra special like we were VIP's or something! It was Refreshing to be treated like that at a restaurant here in small town USA. It doesn't happen like that ever! Wow! I will be back with my husband next time as he's never tried Indian food but he's looking forward to it! I highly recommend this place...
