Hot Dog Depot has a new owner with HIGHER PRICES and lacking quality! We all know prices on everything is up but this pricing on food here is ridiculous. A co worker and I stopped to get lunch here as they were finally open again. We were prior customers who ate here three times. They have been closed a lot recently due to the new owner taking over and setting things up. I bought a Coney Dog and a milkshake and it was $9.55! $2.79 for the dog and $5.96 for a regular size (16oz) milk shake before 8% tax. Like $6.40 for a milk shake plus they made the wrong flavor milk shake. I have a recent menu from the old owner and a regular size (16oz) milk shake used to be $3.90 not $5.96. And a Coney dog was $2.59 not $2.79. For the same money I could've gone to Bojangles down the road and gotten a four piece Supremes combo. Four chicken tenders, dipping sauce, seasoned fries, biscuit plus a drink for 25 cents more.
My coworker was equally unhappy with his purchase. He bought a jumbo fish sandwich with a small fries and it was $8.70 with tax! $5.99 for the fish sandwich when it used to be $5.29 and $2.00 for regular "tiny" fries. They used to be $1.79. On the menu it says the fish sandwich comes with cheese and he even asked did it come with cheese and the lady said yes. He got a jumbo fish sandwich with no cheese and the fish was overcooked, this dude was mad. I usually eat turkey and cheese sandwiches for lunch at work. I was able to save the day for providing a cheddar cheese slice to his overcooked jumbo fish sandwich that they put no cheese on. $6.40 is a lot of money for a sandwich that they forgot to put a slice cheese.
The new owner of Hot Dog Depot has put a bitter taste in our mouths and we won't be back. The prices and quality of what you get is not worth it. My food was ok but WAY WAY OVERPRICED for what it is ! Usually when a business sells out the new owner either changes things, the quality goes down or the prices go up. Well two of those three things have happened. We work with a lot of people and we'll tell them of our recent experience under the new owners and steer them clear. I'll stick to my turkey and...
Read moreSo, I’ve driven by this place a few times and today decided to stop. Best. Decision. EVER! First, they have a menu outside but you order at the window, and that comes into play now. I get to the window and a lady opens it, greets me, and all while smiling. I let her know I’ve never been there before, and wanted to know what to get. Suddenly faces and voices come in from EVERYWHERE! All of them telling me what they like personally but assuring me it’s all great. I ordered two hot dogs (Ruben and The Depot) and the hot honey brat. This is where Kailyn (expert milkshake maker extraordinaire) comes in. She suggests I try a milkshake too. The lady who first talked to me suggested the peanut butter Oreo. When I tell you these people have the customer service thing down…it’s an understatement. Best experience at a drive thru hands down! Then they tell me the total, give me my change, and the girl goes “Cool, we’ll see you on the other side” as in you drive around to the pickup window. I just added that because it sounded cool. On…the other side, Kailyn comes over first with the milkshake….I take one sip and I’m hooked. AMAZING! Then the hot dogs come out. I say bye and they all waive and say bye to me. I’m sitting down the street eating these hot dogs and a brat thinking, “Why aren’t they everywhere?!” Amazing food, amazing atmosphere, and the smiles bring it all together! Oh! And Kailyn let me know they are coming to Fort Mill too!!! Soooooooo, maybe Lancaster next?! Also, all of that for less than $20…..if you haven’t been….you're missing...
Read moreThis location is usually really good and it saddens me to write this review but I honestly had an unpleasant experience here with my mom 04/23/25 around 6:45pm (give or take). The lady at the ordering window was super friendly but when we pulled around to wait for our food we weren’t greeted on the other side like usual and the boy running that window had us wait about 15 minutes while we watched him and the blonde lady make somewhere around 3 or 4 different orders that weren’t ours until he opened the window and asked if we were DoorDash (I won’t lie, he was honestly a really kind person with a good customer service attitude with handling our frustrations). We said no and my mom said something along the lines of “we ordered at the window and have been waiting” and his face was clearly in shock. I understand working in the food industry things get busy and aren’t always easy, especially considering it was Weiner Wednesday but we were just sitting there waiting on our food that whole time prior just to find out our bag was the same one sitting there the whole time on the right side from when we first pulled up :( he assumed we were DoorDash and never asked and that’s where the irritation on my mom and I’s end came from. I’ll definitely come back here because I understand it was probably a one time thing but I was disappointed to see my hot dogs were cold and my mom’s hotdog was missing one ingredient. All in all it tasted great, I just think with better communication these issues could’ve been solved on...
