I have been coming to Grub's over the years when I am town with my father. He lived in Rock Springs in the late 70's and early 80's and frequented this establish during those days. Over the last few visits, I have noticed that the burgers are paper thin and the prices remain high. We stopped by this past Monday for two Shamrocks, two orders of fries, a side salad, and two cups of chili to-go. On a side note, we were both surprised that there was no dine in. Most restaurants as well as bars in Sweetwater County are back open and there is no reason that Grub's shouldn't be either.
Both of our burgers had patties that were much smaller than the size of the bun, we could have gone to Wendy's and had three Double Stacks for the price of one Shamrock. One Double Stack from Wendy's has more beef than a Shamrock at Grub's. The fries are still the same but nothing special and overpriced. The side salad that I ordered was served in a paper fry container and consisted of nothing more than a burger set; shredded lettuce, one small slice of tomato, and two pickles; it was $3.00... Our chili was very small and was nothing spectacular, also overpriced like everything else that we ordered. The total for everything came to $38 and I don't think it was worth more than $10.
I don't know what has happened to this place but I used to look forward to visiting when I was traveling to Rock Springs. My father told me that when he used to live here, their the burgers were quite ample and the prices were reasonable. The only positive note that I have is that the Shamrocks still taste the same. The gentleman that gave us our food even had the nerve to ask "is there room for a tip on here?", which my dad gladly added in; quite tacky if you ask me, especially since the food was just shy of awful. I don't know what has happened to Grub's over the years, but I have heard that a lot of locals don't go here much anymore. I suggest that the current owners make some serious changes because this...
Read moreGrub's Drive-In is an absolute gem in Rock Springs! From the moment I walked in and took a seat at the horseshoe-shaped bar, I knew I was in for a treat. The old school diner feel adds a cozy charm to the place that instantly made me feel at home.
But it wasn't just the ambiance that impressed me; the service was exceptional. Kendra, the server or possibly owner, was incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure everyone had everything they needed. Her warm smile and friendly demeanor lifted spirts coming in from the Wyoming cold.
The burgers at Grubs are truly the star of the show. I ordered the Shamrock aka cheeseburger bliss. Two burgers grilled on a flat top, topped with melted cheese, mustard, mayo, lettuce, tomato, and I added grilled onions. The burgers were cooked to perfection, with the buns soft yet grilled on the bottom for that ideal texture combination. Every bite was a symphony of flavors, with the toppings all melding together perfectly.
The fries were fantastic as well. Freshly cut and cooked to crispy perfection on the outside while remaining delightfully soft on the inside. It's clear that the team know what they are doing at Grub's, as every aspect of the meal was spot on.
I am so glad I popped in. Grub's reminds me of some of my favorite burger joints in other cities like Rocky's Crown Point in San Diego or Dino's in Nashville. If you find yourself in a 100-mile radius of Rock Springs, WY do yourself a favor and pay Grubs a visit. You won't be...
Read moreCame here based on the excellent reviews about how great the burgers are. I left quite disappointed. First off, it is a cool little place. Bar type setup in a semi circle with 12 high top chairs around it. That's it. No other seating. Very neat IMO. Service was just fine. You can get real, old style, milkshakes. I ordered the cheeseburger. When I got it, was on a good sized bun and could see no meat. Opened it up and the patty is the size of the $.99 burger at McDonalds...possible even smaller. I am serious when I say MAYBE a 2 ounce patty. My first mistake was that I did not order the 'Shamrock' burger which is apparently 2 of these tiny patties, mine was only 1 (The menu does not say 1 or 2 patties on it). But even 2 of them is pretty anemic IMHO. When I go to a local burger place, I am thinking 1/3-1/2lb patty...or AT LEAST a 1/4lb. Nope. And taste wise was nothing special either. The fries do seem home made and are decent. All in all, quite disappointing. I could have gone to McD's and had a...
