We visited this Thai restaurant based on its strong reviews, but our experience was a bit underwhelming overall. That said, if you’re looking for a Thai food option in Rock Springs, it’s still worth considering—especially for a few standout items.

We started with the Crab Rangoon, which was solid and satisfying—crispy on the outside and creamy inside, just as you’d hope. My wife ordered the Pad Thai, and it was the highlight of the meal. It had great flavor and texture—she found it slightly on the sweet side, but I thought it was just right.

I chose the Yellow Curry with beef, and unfortunately, it didn’t live up to expectations. The curry lacked the rich, creamy texture I associate with coconut milk-based curries. We had read in another review that the restaurant may use regular milk instead of coconut milk, and based on the taste and consistency, that seemed likely. It made for a noticeably flatter and less flavorful dish.

If we return, we’d definitely reorder the Pad Thai and Crab Rangoon. I’d recommend asking ahead about the ingredients in the curry, particularly whether it’s made with coconut milk. If not, you might want to opt for something else...

I'm very excited that we finally decided to try Thai Chef 9!! Like someone said, the outside tends to discourage folks from going inside, but my goodness! It's SO good. I was a little confused with the menu as it lacks description, but I showed the hostess the picture that looked wonderful to me. It was #55 which says "potato ". So I ordered it with beef and fried rice. It was so good, it's like a stew but with a great Thai flavor and hit the spot for me. My husband had the Green Curry with the seafood combo. It was wonderful, and he said he'd definitely get it again. He did get a little tiny bowl of the Panang Curry to see what that tastes like, and we both loved the flavor. Next time, and yes, there will be a next time, we'll try the Panang Curry with the seafood combo!! The service was good, the restaurant is very clean and welcoming, the atmosphere is very quiet with no music or any radio. We could actually talk and hear one another. Why haven't we gone here before??? Thank you, Thai Chef 9, for the great food and service. And also for allowing us to try a sample of your...

Of the six Asian food restaurants I've dined at in Rock springs, Thai Chef nine is by far the best.

They actually make their own crab rangoon / crab cheese wontons! They are extremely delicate and thin and crispy, unlike the Frozen version that you get at every other restaurant in this town who serves them.

Their Thai curries are wonderfully spiced and flavorful, and filled with vegetables that differ from choice to choice as opposed to lumping all of the same ingredients into just a different sauce as some of the other restaurants in town do.

I believe they also make their on dumplings, as they were nice and delicate and flavorful as well. They didn't seem to be filled with the same homogeneous mix that's made in a factory and served in all of the other Asian restaurants in Rock springs.

This place is...
