I used to love this bakery/deli. I would frequent often. For years. Before reading the rest of my review, please know that I was very pleasant on the phone explaining why I had a problem…. On Thursday before Easter, my son went in to buy pizza dough and 1.5 lbs. of prosciutto (@$26 a lb) and it was amazing. I went back on Saturday to get more prosciutto and a Lb of Genoa salami for our antipasto. Fast forward to Easter morning. I am assembling the antipasto, open the prosciutto, it is funky colors, mostly fat and tasted terrible! It looked awful! Definitely not the same one from Thursday, and definitely not something I would serve! We ran to Shoprite immediately and bought more for our antipasto, which is a holiday tradition. It happens. I understand. Maybe I should have looked at it before leaving the shop, but really?? Nobody does that! I called ahead and ordered my items before leaving my home to get it. Yes they were BUSY! Does that make it okay to sell terrible product? I called Monday morning and asked for a manager, but there was not one available. I called back in the afternoon and spoke to the same woman that I placed my order with over the phone. I explained the situation and she did apologize, but in the same breath told me sorry miss, there is nothing I can do for you, with attitude, explaining that prosciutto is expensive, before I even asked for a refund! I understand times are tough. Times are tough for everyone. I certainly did not plan to spend over $60 on prosciutto in two days! With her attitude towards me and the issue at hand, I truly felt the need to write this review. I told her I was going to write it and she said "no, no, no, don't do that. Why? Shouldn't other consumers know that your bakery/deli, whether you or another employee, let bad deli meat leave your store? Keep in mind, not only is prosciutto expensive, but the care that needs to be taken with each thinly sliced slice that is handled individually, so they can't say they didn't notice. They just let it happen and let me leave with it. So my advice is this....if you are buying from Tony & Vinnie's Italian Bakery & deli on Rt 46E in Dover, make sure your order is good before leaving because they DO NOT stand behind...
Read moreDo NOT waste your time getting a cake from here. I was absolutely embarrassed to bring the cake I received from here to my sisters gender reveal. After placing it on the dessert table, I quickly took it down and TRASHED it. I requested a simple buttercream cake with pink and blue blended in. What I got was a zero effort, messy cake. The “macaroons” had rigid edges, the buttercream was not smooth, and the fondant stars looked botched. Not to mention the cake was LOPSIDED AND CROOKED. My boyfriend was the one to pick the cake up for me and when he sent me a picture of it I almost broke down in tears. I called and asked to speak to a manager and what I got was a lady who lied to me saying the manager had already left and will call me Monday. When I explained I was disappointed about the cake I just picked up, out of the blue the manager was apparently still there! When I explained my disappointment in the cake to the manager she didn’t try to help or fix the situation, she tried to make me, the customer, feel like I was in the wrong and should be ashamed that I would even call and complain about the cake. She basically told me I was wrong and that the cake was exactly what I wanted and that they were “nice enough” to put the decorations on When I specifically asked for none. Her response to that was to “take them off myself and place my original decorations that I purchased for it”. The cake had absolutely no pink in it and basically gave the gender away before it even started. I have never been so disgusted in my life and have never been treated like this by a business. Instead of righting their wrong they continued to make me feel bad and made the cake even worse. So a $125+ cake went RIGHT IN THE TRASH. Don’t make the same mistake I did and just stay away from this bakery. The first three photos are the original cake. All blue, no pink, blotched on buttercream and macaroons?? I can’t even tell you. The last picture is their “fix”. Still all blue, no pink and...
Read moreI absolutely LOVE Tony & Vinnies! Their food, pastries, & breads are absolutely delicious! I work as a preschool teacher for students with autism! This month, our dramatic play theme was bakery so we took a trip to visit a local bakery! I was blown away by their love, patience, kindness, inclusivity, attention to detail, smilies, contagious energy, collaboration, & willingness to make this a very positive experience for our students! Each student had the opportunity to be a customer, pick an item to order using visual aides, practice manners, focus on communication skills, & pay with play money! The teachers paid with a credit card at the end haha! The workers did such a great job accommodating to each child’s unique needs & treating each customer with the utmost patience and respect! All of the students & staff enjoyed their tasty treat back at school! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making this experience so special for our students & staff! We will definitely be back! I highly recommended this bakery to everyone because their staff are just as amazing as their food! “In the end, only kindness...
