As of tonight I will not be returning, and I can list in great detail why. I paid extra for extra meat, I’ve always gotten extra meat on my chicken finger grinder since I first moved to this town in 2018. Athens was the first place I ate at, it was where I used to eat at, but this will not be the case any more. I requested no less than two times to remember the extra meat I paid for, then I get my sandwich and they double charge me. My order was 25 dollars and some cents (this includes tax), they charged me 31 dollars twice and attempted to bold face lie that my bank was displaying the wrong amount. I get my sandwich and go home, Only to find only three small pieces of chicken that don’t even touch the other. That is not extra meat. I call and request an amendment, and they informed me that extra meat is only one piece of chicken, another lie. I have been getting the same thing for years, and this is not what is the norm. So here I am, frustrated, upset, out of 60 dollars when at most it would be 25 dollars, and absolutely not a single manager or employee cares. Athen has stopped caring about their customers, they do not care about who gives them money, just that you no longer have it and they get to pawn you off with food too expensive for the amount you get. The owners certainly don’t care, so now I will need to handle this further to get the double charge back and I just will not be going back. I’m tired of being treated like this, I’m tired of the all around diminishing quality. I’ll just have to take my business elsewhere. It’s not like there’s at least three other places that sell pizza in this town. You would think that if they had to be competitive they would improve, but it seems not. I hope others bother to listen to me and maybe reconsider where you get your treats...
Read morePlaced an online order as I often do, was called back and told there was no driver available to come to where I live which is no big deal as I do live pretty far and they have to cancel the order, no worries. I had paid via my cash app debit card and the charge was "pending" for a few days then Athens still took my money so the first time I called I had politely asked to speak to a manager on staff about my refund and was told there isn't a manager on staff for that day but that they'd take my name and number down to have the manager call me, a whole day passes and no call back but I figured they got busy or just fell to the wayside so I called back today to try and speak to a manager, when the young woman answered I politely said that I'd like to speak to whatever leadership is on duty and was rudely and bluntly asked "who's this" so I gave my name again and communicated my issue with being charged for a cancelled order and was told verbatim "ummm the lady who does the online refunds comes in liiiiike once a week or something so after she does it it'll go back to our 3rd party ordering app and then you'll have to wait until they do it" Was never told who this manager who handles the refunds is, was never told an estimated time until I get my money back, was left more confused than when I called. Also, as a restaurant who cancels my order (once again no big deal stuff happens), why would you still charge my debit card? I'm having a really difficult time getting a hold of someone who can give me solid information and at the very least get my money back. Otherwise they have decent food and the only place outside of WNY with pizza logs that I've seen so...
Read moreI used to frequent Athens Pizza when I was a teenager. They first came to Bellas Falls in the '80s, and my friends and I would gather around a pizza and a movie to make a night of it. As I grew up, I continued to visit this restaurant, as it was all the rage back then. I believe their quality was much better back in those days.
While I don’t think their quality has drastically declined, something still feels lacking, and I can’t quite put my finger on it. Since they moved out of the square to the far end of the street, I haven't cared for the new atmosphere. I'm not sure who owns the restaurant now, but the previous family who ran it was so friendly, kind, and outgoing. They would do anything to make people feel welcome and loved hearing how great our days were when we shared that we had pizza at Athens.
As an adult, I don’t get that same vibe from Athens anymore. I've been there recently, and while the pizza is still pretty good and their pasta, grinders, and wraps are acceptable, I believe what makes food taste better is the atmosphere and the friendly openness of the owner. Unfortunately, I'm just not experiencing that anymore. Maybe I’ve simply outgrown it? I certainly don’t wanna own discouragement to anybody who feels like they wanna try Athens. I certainly say go for it cause it’s not a bad spot. It’s just not what I feel. I remember growing up and becoming a young adult so out of five stars, I’m...
