Made reservations online Wednesday and asked to be notified if outside seating was not possible since we would opt to place a take out order.

We get to the restaurant and I drop my husband off with our daughters so they could be seated while I park in the subterranean garage. They are led to an inside corner table. When I walk in, I am told they called us earlier (1 hour and 45 minutes before per my call log) to explain that outside seating would not be available but they could seat us inside.

MOST of the patio was empty at this time.

Being that it was my husband's birthday, we were going to leave and find another restaurant. Then, one of the hostesses said she had a cancelation and could seat us outside after all. We proceed to go outside and I get seated facing the sun. At this point there are about 10 open tables; 5 where we are and about 5 on the other side of the building where a couple was seated. No complaints though, we are seated, we're going to order, let the birthday continue.

A server comes out and offers to change our table to a table in the shade and we accept.

We move over and find the plates are dirty as are some of the napkins. Andrew, our server, comes out and introduces himself and tells us that the bar works the patio but that he would be momentarily helping them which led me to ask if we were going to have a server and he explained yes but that it may not be him the entire time.

We proceed to order. We overhear Andrew introduce himself to other tables without the caveat he shared with us. The food comes out and the fish was excellent. Our girls didn't care for the chicken sandwich or the salad. The drinks were great.

At the end of our meal Andrew seems to be the patio area server as no one else joined him or took his post. He offered to comp us a beverage or send us home with a bread pudding for all of the miscommunication and run around when we first arrived.

After reading reviews and looking forward to dinner out to celebrate a birthday after the pandemic, we were highly disappointed.

We could have been notified Thursday or even Friday morning if we could not be accommodated on Friday evening despite the online reservation. Our service was slow despite the scarce dining room and the empty patio. This was our first time at the restaurant and when we asked a question of one of the staff that was outside, he only provided a one word answer. The food was great and there was an attempt at an apology - we're it not for these two points, we would have left a 1...

Unfortunately, I do have to leave a star in order to have my review up but if I could leave no stars I would. Very very unhappy with my first and last experience here. Made Reservations ahead of time to celebrate MY BIRHTDAY with my family on April 7th, 2023 at 7pm. Everything was going well until my sister asked for a margarita and provided a valid driver's license. Our waitress was Maurica assisted us. She asked for my sister's her ID, which she provided to her. After, about 5 minutes went by she still hadn't yet to receive a margarita. Another few minutes go by and Maurica comes back to the table to confirm my sister's ID a second time claiming that she needed to take a look at it again because of the "lighting". She proceeds to walk away with my sister's ID. About this time it's been a good 10-15 minutes and my sister still do not have her ID nor did she have the drink that she asked for. At this time, we are now being approached by Camilla the manager. She then explains that her associate was "not confident" when checking my sister's ID, & asks if there is another form of ID that she can provide them with. Keep in mind that my sister is over the age of 21 with a valid drivers license that is NOT expired & is in fact HER ID. I then questioned if in fact her was up to dated with the NEW MARYLAND ID's? What was the reasoning of a second form of ID if they had her ID on hand. Camilla was not able to explain to us why they did not feel confident with her ID but still insisted her proved another form of ID. My sister then asked her what does she want a credit card? Camilla the manger tells her that will work. At this point she did not want the beverage and now my family members and I were also getting agitated by the service and the fact that they were not even apologetic. We all felt very discriminated by this conflict. Overall, my BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION was ruined based on how their employees went about this situation that could've been handled in a more professional manner considering the type of venue we were dining at. UNHAPPY OVERALL!!!!! DO...

After posting the below, sub-par review 4 weeks ago, I was contacted by the manager, David Amelio, to discuss the issues we had. He kindly offered a complimentary 2nd chance, which we had yesterday. This time the service and friendliness of the staff was impeccable. And, as I stated from my 1st experience, the food is excellent and the portions were more than adequate. The spinach and artichoke dip appetizer was scrumptious. The rib-eye steak was cooked to order and about the tastiest steak I've ever had. After this, wonderful experience, we will be back and I now highly recommend this restaurant.

We arrived this past Saturday for our 7:45 reservation. Everything seemed nice. Despite the covid limited clientele, service was slow at first. We ordered glasses of wine followed by a spinach and artichoke dip appetizer and tha steak and fish main course. About 10 minutes later, waiters were bringing our main course. I informed them we had not yet received our appetizer and they retreated, then bringing our appetizer. However, not 5 minutes later, they brought over our main course again. They stated the kitchen closes at 8;00 pm. I then questioned why would they make a 7:45 reservation if the kitchen closes at 8? No valid response from the waiter. After several minutes, while still enjoying the appetizer, the waiter returned to check on us and I asked him to return the main course to the kitchen to keep it warm. Less than 10 minutes later, he returns again with our dinner. Now I asked to see the manager. The manager comes over and I informed him of what had transpired and they turn a nice leisurely dinner into a rushed marathon. He gave me explanations that it was a covid restriction that closes the kitchen at 8 with some kind of 90 minute grace or something. My takeaway from him was, it's not his fault and to just deal with it. A competent and caring manager would have apologized and compted a portion of our order. He did neither! The only reason I gave 2 stars was because the food was good. However, I will never be back at this...

I've been to Stanford Grill several times. Sometimes it's great. Sometimes it's just ok. Recent visit, I met up with a friend for dinner. Our server Matt was friendly and attentive. He suggested a few things on the menu as his favorites. Our cocktails were great. I had a Boulevardier which is often my go to. Friend had a lemon drop martini on the sweet side. We ordered the hummus and some sushi to start. I love that they have chickpeas on top of the hummus. The pita served with the hummus was warm and delish. Sushi is always pretty looking food. Sushi rice was just a bit sticky, but still tasty. I had the Impossible Burger for my entree. I had asked if they grilled the patties on the same grill as their regular burgers. Matt said they could grill it in a saute pan for me instead. He did ask if I was vegan. I'm not, however, I do not eat any red meat. It was nice that he asked cause their buns and cheese are not vegan. Friend had the filet with the mashed potatoes. So much food that she took her's home. We checked in with Yelp and got a free dessert. Opted for the key lime pie. Love that they whip their own whipped cream. It was a huge amount on top of the key lime pie which looked like it was 1/4 of the pie plate! Huge! Very tasty to go along with a hot cup of fresh pressed coffee. Stanford Grill is a convenient location to meet up with friends. The bar is a good size and they've got their jazz group playing most nights. Parking in the garage is free. Just be sure to park on P3 or P4 or the other parking tenants will give you not so friendly looks.

I had an incredible dining experience at Glenwood’s Stanford Grill in Rockville that I just have to rave about! From start to finish, the customer service was truly top-notch. The staff was welcoming and professional, making us feel immediately at home. Our server was exceptional—attentive without being intrusive, checking in at just the right times, and making sure every detail was perfect. You could tell they really cared about giving us a great experience. The food? Absolutely delicious. Every dish was cooked to perfection, with high-quality ingredients and beautiful presentation. Whether you’re into classic American favorites or something with a bit more flair, there’s truly something for everyone on the menu. And let me tell you about the mocktails! They were amazing—creative, refreshing, and beautifully balanced. It’s so nice to see a place that puts as much care into their non-alcoholic drinks as their cocktails. Overall, Stanford Grill in Rockville is the kind of place you go when you want excellent food, standout service, and a polished yet comfortable atmosphere. Can’t wait to come back!

First, I’d go with the consensus here of 4.5 stars, but that’s not allowed by the app. We’ve been frequent customers of this elegant, vibrant and consistent restaurant including during the pandemic when we ate outside it had take-out. It is remarkably consistent because the staff is almost universally highly professional and reliable. That’s hard to find these days. The food, cocktails and wine are generally right down the middle American with a steakhouse feel but at a lower price point meaning better value. Make no mistake about it, the rotisserie chicken is the star of the show for dinner, but steaks, seafood, salads and burgers are excellent as well. The crab cake is not its best offering. Reservations are advised for weekends, especially. There’s something for everyone here, and servers are attentive to those with dietary needs or preferences. I think you’ll be as impressed as we have been. Also, Cooper Canyon Grill is owned by the same group, has much the same menu but Stanford is a much nicer environment.
