Experience At Bhog Multi-Cuisine Indian Restaurant
I was planning to host an event (End of November) for a party of 50 people and I had a talk with the Manager of Bhog as he said so) 1.5 months back (October Mid). Here goes the sequence of events:
Day 1: I had requested them if they provide buffet during dinner time on weekdays. The manager said no they cannot since weekdays they are busy, they can do Ala Carte. But even for 50 people, they cannot book the restaurant for a couple of hours since they are busy during the evenings. Fair Enough. I was told they will let me know their decision within a couple of days and call me back.
After couple of days:
Day 2: No one called. I went back again and asked them about their decision. Someone named Rick talked to me and confirmed they can book the full restaurant for 2 hours 8.30-10.30 with a pre-defined menu (ala carte). We decided on the price and the items as well, he asked me to come after a week.
After a week:
Day 3: I went again and talked to Rick regarding the advance needed. He said to pay around 25% by Nov 2nd week and finalize the menu. He even asked to try out the Pan which they have in dessert.
Nov 13:
Day 4: I went to Bhog, had dinner with my family, I told them about the advance and the party and they were like surprised and saying the same thing, “We are busy during weekdays evening, cannot give you the full restaurant for 2 hours, we told you before. The person(Rick) who committed you is not having the authority to decide on this. He is back in India. We will talk to him.” He claimed himself to be one of the owners, even he said we will not keep in dark this time, we will call you. I told them my invitations were sent already and now I am like nowhere. He assured me of some solution. Till today I have not received a call.
Did I ask them you will have to give me the full restaurant for 2 hours? Is this the kind of professionalism you expect from a so called reputed restaurant? They even don’t have the courtesy to call back and let me know.
Thanks to Haveli and owner Krishna for finally...
Read moreI am not one to write reviews on restaurants but I am compelled to write one here, CT people need to know about this gem of a place. Living in NJ I thought I had exclusive access to the best Indian food but boy was I wrong! The place looked clean and the cheerful waiter was eager that we have a great experience. Looking at the menu my eyes wandered to the Indian cocktail section and I ordered the Masala Rye Whiskey and it was shockingly good such an amazing concoction of species and Rye it was out of this world. I must say I am always uneasy ordering lamb at new restaurants but this place gave me a good vibe and we ordered Lamb Chops as an appetizer. These little babies were so succulent and perfectly cooked we literally gobbled them and were craving more. But instead we ordered Veinchina Mamsan (Bhuna Ghosh) or fried lamb and it took me to another level an epitome of culinary delight. Just the right amount of spice...mouth watering as I write this review. The serving size was huge, another bonus. My friends ordered Tangdi Kabab and it was savory and juicy, cooked to perfection on the tandoor.I made a note to myself that next time I should try their naan as their tandoor guy seems to be an expert. At this time I was thinking this place seems too good surely their biryani cannot be better than what I get in Jersey...again pleasantly surprised me, it was as good if not better than some of the best places I have been to. The way they served the biryani covered in dough was very pleasing.
After such a scrumptious meal we still found it in us to order desert and the Double ka Meeta and Nizami kulfi were such a treat that it took me back to the bylanes of Hyderabad filled with nostalgia.
I have been yearning to go back to this place for a month now and finally going...
