Lings Cafe — Restaurant in Rocky Top

Not that this place can't be improved (hence why they did a soft opening), but I just think it's exactly what this area needs and I can't wait to see where it goes, so 5 stars it is.

I picked up last night and everything came out great. The curry sauce was delicious, especially with the potatoes and well cooked chicken. I don't normally like chunks of chicken as I would prefer something crispier or fried w/ corn starch, but it wasn't dry at all and made for good, simple fare to show off the truly great sauce. I think the flavors are there that set it apart from regular Chinese-American style restaurant and I hope they go even further with some dishes. I get that it isn't Szechuan and spicy wouldn't sell as well in this area, but I would love some spicy additions, or even some pickled daikon or carrots, once they get the menu settled.

The dumplings were great and being handmade makes such a difference. Could definitely taste the love. Would love a little spicy soy or rice vinegar sauce to go with it or chili crisp, but the dumplings were great on their own, especially the noodle.

I thought the wontons in the soup were great, but would love to see a stronger, more scallion-y broth. It was slightly watery, but still had a good, warm taste and a little soy sauce made a difference.

As a local business, we love supporting great food in our community — and Lings Cafe never disappoints. Their rice bowls are our go-to, and they are consistently delicious, fresh, and full of flavor.

We typically gravitate toward the Curry Chicken or Sweet & Sour Chicken Rice Bowls, which are both outstanding but the Teriyaki Chicken Rice Bowl deserves its own round of applause — perfectly cooked chicken, amazing sauce, and the ideal balance with the rice. Truly a stellar dish!
