Living in South Mississippi we are used to having the privilege of being able to dine at some of the best Catfish Restaurant's in the Country. So with that said, we don't get our hopes up when ordering Catfish in other regions, so though I did not want to gamble on Catfish while passing thru this area, my better 1/2 had a craving, and ain't no one happy if she isn't happy. That said, I now have to admit that the Catfish here at Catfish John's can hold it's own with many of our local Catfish Restaurant's and that we really enjoyed it, not to mention their Family Meal option was a really good deal. Now food wise the Slaw was just not anything like the slaw we like, and since neither of us was going to eat it, we asked if we could exchange it for what we thought were Baked Beans, but they were actually Pinto Beans, and really, really, good Pinto Beans at that. The hushpuppies were also really good. The only real let down and the reason for the less than 5 star rating was the service once we were seated, as it was non-existent, to the point that we had to go and ask someone for drink refills and had to go and get our to-go box ourselves, and this was a restaurant that supposedly had table service, plus I was exhausted from all of the driving I had done in the last couple of days, which was another reason for picking a full service restaurant. If I was in the area again I would not let the Sub-Par service keep me from dining there again, heck I'd stop in just for the Pinto Beans, but my better 1/2 would make me order some Catfish too!

I thoroughly enjoyed our visit with two substantial caveats. The first was evident on entering; I’m not a fan of a walk-up counter especially when spending well north of $12 a plate. The counter worker was terrific so that issue was mitigated for the most part. I loved the fact that they offer several soda options in a bottle including Dr. Pepper. Shortly after taking a seat the green tomato relish arrived. I doubt they make their own but it was fantastic. The catfish plate arrived complete with several hush puppies, fries and coleslaw. The slaw was fresh, crunchy and light on dressing. The puppies were tasty, slightly sweet with a crisp outside and soft center. The fries were good and there were plenty of them. Now the second caveat; the catfish. While thin and fried well it was essentially tasteless being way under seasoned. I like thin filets but when they lack seasoning adding hot sauce doesn’t work, not enough fish there so it covers any fish flavor. Normally that would kill any chance of me returning but everything else was so good I’ll probably return. Back to caveat #1, the service was so good with multiple people checking on us they already have the staff to do table service, so why not?

Recently dined at this well established eatery in Rogers, AR. I have not been here in around 20 years. We had a party of 8 with 2 children. It was 4:00 pm and they continued to run a lunch special for $9.99 and allowed us to order it. The catfish was thick and meaty, fried crisp in clean grease and very tasty. Fries were thick cut and delicious, tomato relish was wonderful and the beans were spot on perfect. As a cole slaw lover I wish there was a little more seasoning in this side but not a deterrent from all the wonderful food we partook of. Aside from the food the service was above and beyond excellent. Drinks were filled quickly, we were asked if we needed anything and our requests were filled immediately and with a friendly attitude. I have been wanting to try this place again and I’m glad I did. There’s a reason they have been there for decades…good food and good service. Large portions which gave us enough to take home for a second meal. Give it a try if you like fried catfish with all the fixings. One of the best places around and a local favorite.

Being Hungary for Catfish, is always a great sign to head out to Catfish Johns. Been going to this restaurant for well over 20 years. What has gone down hill in the last year has been the service. While the food is exceptional, the staff is a bit to be desired.

Dined in on a Friday night. The place was not exceptionally busy, but the first issue was with the young man that served me. He brought the wrong food, and in trying to flag down someone to correct the issue, I had to take the food over to the kitchen, as the staff (kids) seemed to be enjoying sitting around the table talking and playing on there phones.

When I finally got my food, they forgot to bring out utensils to eat with. Again, I had to get up from the table and flag someone down.

Once I finally got into my meal, with utensils, I ran out of water, and in attempting to get water, again the young girl that was supposed to be waiting tables was to busy on her phone. I had to get up and go ask for the water which seemed like an inconvenience.

I get that the younger generation thinks that work is collecting a check and not working, but there just comes a time for training your staff before putting them on the floor.

I will continue to support the restaurant but I pray the staff...
