I have been here twice. From my point of view this is two different restaurants. Let's start with the awesome one. We had Catfish dinner here on our first visit on a Thursday evening around 7:30. It has a friendly hole in the wall small town vibe. The people were very friendly the waitress was attentive. The catfish was done to perfection we had the filet. There was more than enough to eat in fact two people could share a catfish plate. Homade tarter sauce was good. Coleslaw was good as was everything else she had a burger and fries. One of the best places around for catfish. Thankshe cook that evening works every day but Wednesday so I would go any day other than Wednesday although Wednesday might be okay too. Now let's talk about the other Fatcats. Yes it is actually the same place. While we were there we noticed that they also had a breakfast menu we looked at the menu and it sounded good. We decided on our next opportunity we would have breakfast there. As luck would have it that opportunity arose the next Monday morning when we had to get up extra early. Yes this other fat cats is actually the same place but oh so different. For breakfast I had two eggs over medium sausage grits, biscuits and gravy. She had one egg over well bacon biscuits and gravy. I started with a spoonful of the grits. OMG when I tell you that it tasted like somebody dumped the box of grits into the hot water and didn't cook them that's exactly what they tasted like I could not eat that spoonful and tried to gracefully spit it out into my napkin without making too much of a horrible face however I was not successful. Worse grits I have NEVER had. The sausage was so overcooked that only the center about the size of a quarter of it was still edible. The eggs were a little overcooked as well. The two biscuits, one was pretty good the other was burnt. and as far as the gravy I can only say this is something that was much more suited as a glue for wall covering then things to eat. She said her eggs were okay but the bacon was definitely burnt in spots and was obviously of a very poor quality to begin with. To sum it up if you are ever passing through rogersville in the morning and you are really hungry and you're thinking of stopping at fat cats for breakfast just keep driving you're better off to be hungry better yet stop at McDonald's or Hardee's. On the other hand if you want a great one catfish dinner stop in when the lady is cooking when I ate which is any day but Wednesday and I don't think you'll be...
Read moreDirty tables, bad service, the place is very dirty. After waiting for 5 minutes to be acknowledged, we just ended up sitting on a dirty table. That still had dirty rags and cleaning chemicals on the top of the table with trash on the floor. We waited 5 more minutes on the table for someone to come because we still haven't been acknowledged yet. By that point, I started cleaning my own table. We walk to the counter to grab the attention of one of the servers and ask if someone can help us. And she said, "What are you guys here for?" We said we are here for breakfast, and she says We might be able to do one more. Just have a seat. And as we were waiting, the person who was sitting right beside us. Says, "Can I please have a fork so I can eat my food!" "That is the second time that I have asked, " He said patiently. We decided to walk out after that. He had been sitting there with a plate on his table before we came in the...
Read moreWhat craving a good hearty breakfast and took a chance here. Read the other reviews and one person said it “It’s not fancy” nor does this place try to be. HOWEVER, it is a cute, little spot that I could see on Guy Fieri’s Diner, Drive-in and Dives. I ordered the Fat Cat Big Breakfast and was not disappointed, left feeling satisfied, full and not over stuffed. It’s a small town, homey atmosphere that serves really good biscuits and gravy. The coffee is better than most places. Parking runs along the side and towards the back of the building so if you have a larger vehicle (extended cabs with an 8ft bed) I would suggest parking in the back. Other than that, there is plenty of parking. The price for the amount of food and quality was, again, better than most...
