The food at Pop’s has always been mediocre but decent enough for a quick meal. The addition of the drive thru in Romeoville made it a bit more convenient. But, the service is less than desirable and after what happened 3 days ago, I will never return. I promised myself I would not write a negative post until I thought about it. There have been a dozen times I thought better and did not post a thing. My last visit to Pop’s in Romeoville was so negative I have now thought about it for 3 days. It was not what happened but the manners of the staff that made me realize I had to review. I ordered 2 Gyros sandwiches and 2 orders of Fries. The guy said “ so you want a Gyros Platter”. I answer no, I want 2 gyros and 2 fries. I note on the Board that it says the Platter is “double meat”, not 2 sandwiches. The guy gets totally cocky and rude with me but I again state what I want. When I drive up the person at the window says that I ordered a “ Platter” I said no I didn’t, I ordered 2 gyros, 2 fries. She says nothing just slams the window in an angry and rude manner. Next thing I know, the guy is at the window aggressively screaming at me that I ordered a Platter. Now, I am feeling very disrespected and no one has ever explained to me what a Platter was, is it 2 gyros and 2 fries? Again, I say I don’t know, but I want 2 g’s 2 fries. At this point, the guy gets very rude and gets back at the register. The bill was originally $21 (for the Platter apparently). He rings it up again and says $26.72!!! When I questioned it, and in an extremely rude and aggressive way says “that’s what you ordered”, still never explaining what the Platter included. He again slams the window in my face. They went to make me my order and I waited another 11 minutes for my food! Like I said, Pop’s food is ok, but not worth your time. Go down the block where you can hear “It’s our pleasure” or go a bit further and get a great beef sandwich and totally better food all around and have your order taken in-person with a smile. No need to subject yourself to angry, rude, passive-aggressive employees for...
Read moreI’ve been to Pop’s a few times. They have a good variety of food and some options not available at nearby competition. The quality and quantity of the food is good. When I have been there though, it wasn’t very crowded and yet the wait for the food seemed long for ordering at the counter. I do have a “beef” with Pop’s (pardon the pun). I find their online strategy is so misguided. I am somewhat bothered by the fact that they are losing a lot of potential business by their poor e-commerce presence. They have an app that requires a login that takes you nowhere. You eventually get to a page where you have to select a logo that takes you to your chosen location’s menu. It’s too small to read and trying to zoom in the normal way you would on any other app doesn’t work. It’s a picture of the hard copy menu. It’s not interactive. You can’t place an online order. You have to call the order in. I called tonight and no one even bothered to answer the phone. Their website is even worse. They invested a lot in clever graphics that take you to pictures of the food and a description, no price or means to order online. A PDF of their menu would be more useful. Practically every other competitor has a means to order online and pickup. A few have their own delivery or a means to get the food through a delivery service. I can’t tell you how many times I would have preferred to order from Pop’s but ordered from Michael’s Pizza simply because their app is so well organized and easy to order. Michael’s retains profile information and the ability to repeat an order for pickup or delivery with just a click of a single button. They have a choice of coupons you can apply to your order. From a pure business perspective, I am so frustrated by the wasted potential of this place simply because they haven’t gotten on board with an easy to order style app and website. Management should seriously take note and...
Read moreAfter tonight, I am so done with this place. Been a semi regular customer since they first opened. Tried calling 3 or 4 times to place an order. Nobody ever did answer the phone. The reason I was trying to phone first, the time before this they had messed up my order. If you order the chicken, it takes 20 minutes. Fresh would be worth it. But instead of 20 minutes to wait, they only made one chicken dinner, instead of 2. So, my son and i waited about an hour total for the 2nd order of chicken to be made. Anyway, today after them not answering their phone, we drove up figuring, great, gonna be there at least a half hour to get dinner. When I went in to order, the guy said, cant do chicken, we already have that fryer turned off. My reply, it would have been great if you guys answered your phone, could ha have saved me the drive. His response, we take care of standing customers first. Well, you can bet I'll never be a standing customer again. In this day and age, cant answer a phone when most people are to go customers. Then throw a little attitude on to top it off. Plenty of places to eat within 20 minutes of my house that know what phone ups...
