I am surprised to see this restaurant has a 4 star rating. I have only dined here once, but my experience was unforgettably poor. I had just left a bridal shop, hoping to find my dream dress. Unfortunately I didn’t and my wedding was less than a month away. Feeling defeated and very hungry my sister, friend, and I stopped at the Romulus House on the way back. My sis said she used to eat their frequently and always enjoyed it. I ordered a Greek salad with crispy chicken and my sis ordered a crispy chicken and fries. It was late afternoon on a Sunday so the lunch rush was basically over. After waiting an unusually long time, our food finally arrived. The waitress left before asking if we needed anything, and I did not have the crispy chicken or dressing. She eventually came back and I let her know what was missing. She brought back barely cooked grilled chicken. I told her I was sorry to make her run back again but I asked for crispy chicken. She took it back to the kitchen and then came back with the plate and said that the cooks said that that was their crispy chicken. (The waitress was a teenager who seemed new to waitressing. She also seemed slightly rude but also appeared to be undergoing a lot of stress.) So I polietly pointed out that my sister had crispy chicken and the chicken she brought me was clearly not. She went back to the kitchen without saying anything and then came back to say they were out? By this time my sister and friend were done with their meals and I was still waiting to eat. I told her no worries we are wrapping up anyway and would like our bill. And yikes, I was surprised to see the salad AND the crispy chicken topping was on the bill. My friend, sticking up for me, asked the owner if we could have it removed. He shook his head and laughed at her and told her if we didn’t want to pay for it then we need to talk to the waitress and see if she will pay for it. He just kept chuckling to himself and shaking his head... he ignored several of our questions and responded with laughter instead. I couldn’t help but think he was treating us that way because we were woman... I really had no idea what to think. We wanted to leave so we gave up and handed our card over to pay. Of course, it was $10 minimum for cards so we had to buy something else (bottles of water), since all of our bills were just under $10. That part was not a big deal but just seemed like the icing on the cake at that point. Severely...
Read moreTo be completely honest, not trying to sound like a complainer but there are a few things that need to be addressed. Starting with the pricing, the prices online are different than inside the restaurant and its been like that for a while now and hasn't changed and anyone new who is trying to place a carry out order is more than likely gonna be using the online menu, kind of a inconvenience. Then too address the second thing is the actual pricing on foods and side orders, I'm not sure why, but I've never been to a Coney island like restaurant were the side orders and breakfast sides are almost pushing $4.00 and really with the soft drinks, one refill only! And the drink cost $2.00, that doesn't seem right, even the fruit juices are a little over priced. And finally the quality of food, I'm not sure you're aware but there are people who used to work in the food business that buy your food and i can tell you from personal experience they don't change their fryer grease regularly, you can even taste it in their deep fried foods, it leaves a terrible stomach ache after. Then for the corned beef and hash they don't even put green peppers and onions in the corned beef and hash like your suppose too and especially at $7.95 i kind of expected it. All around I do not think in my opinion that this is a good restaurant to go to, seems like their trying to be cheap and not really putting in a honest amount of effort. There are some major things that could be revamped that would make it more appeasing and a better place to go to but until then I'll take my money somewhere else..... Oh! And by the way I was going to leave just one star cause that's the reality of the quality of the restaurant but I added two just to be somewhat nice, hope this helps someone out before they go and spend their...
Read moreI have enjoyed the food there for many years, my sisters and I eat there quite frequently, I have taken friends from out of town there, they all enjoyed the food and the service, however tonight, having a busy day and a late dinner I decided to call and order myself a Catfish dinner. Well knowing they only take cash no credit or debt card I decided to call and get the price of the dinner, I russeled through my house and managed to find the exact amount needed, I called my order in and was told that they would be closing soon. When I arrived, he said I was the last order of the night, at that time I was told a different price then what I was given over the phone, and it was because I ordered x sour cream. When I said I could only pay the price I was quoted over the phone the guy rudely took my food back into the kitchen and removed the x sour cream , when he came back he said, if you order x you should expect to pay for it. I was to busy counting the change that I had put together to respond to him. IF I WAS TOLD AT THE TIME I WAS PLACING MY ORDER, THAT I WAS BEING. CHARGED X, I COULD HAVE BEEN PREPARED. I WAS SO UPSET BECAUSE OF THE WAY I WAS TREATED, I COULD NOT ENJOY MY DINNER. I WILL THINK TWICE BEFORE...
