Update: They have good reviews because they coherce and give ultimatums to those who leave bad ones in hopes of maintaining a good reputation. I spoke with them after leaving the initial bad review and they said they were in the wrong but will ONLY give a refund if I take my review down since it didn't have to do with the quality of the cake. I told them no, my review has to do with the quality of customer service. They admitted fault yet refuse to do the right thing. They even had the gaul to gaslight and blame the customer before admitting fault (see photo). Due to it being a phone order, per whoever runs the Instagram customer service, "There's room for mistakes since the customer is not present to properly explain the custom decoration. The name mistake was my fault..." Just have some integrity and take the blame AS YOU SHOULD. Then they had the nerve to accost me by saying I just wanted free cake to eat (I can't have gluten, this cake was for the friend proposing). This accusation came AFTER they admitted fault and said they would give a refund ONLY if the bad review was taken down. Ps the quality of the cake was significantly hindered because the requested message that went with the cake was screwed up.
Original review: We ordered a custom cake from them for a proposal. For the customization, they decided what they wanted to follow and what they didn't want to follow. The cake was for a very special occasion of a surprise proposal, and the person has two first names. They decided it was perfectly fine to only put the first of the two names on the cake's message on a stick (not on the cake like requested). That was incredibly irritating because the first part of the name is not their whole first name and it was just flat out rude. They did not ask if that was ok. They just did it and sprung it on us when we went to pick it up. They have no managers on site to speak with, and they had no one that could write on the cake real quick to fix the error. This caused a huge hiccup in the day and made things very stressful. Unless you want a quick pastry, I would stay FAR FAR away for custom stuff....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNavi's is a small mom and pop bakery located in South San Gabriel. Very easy to miss if you're driving down Garvey and not paying attention to the stores. They offer a variety of baked goods that are baked fresh without costing too much!
Decided to drop by after work on a weekday and was pleasantly surprised to find a bunch of baked goods still on the shelves. There were a ton of small cakes, cake slices, macarons, cake pops, cupcakes, cookies, donuts, guava rolls and a whole lot more. The only unfortunate thing is that there were no labeled prices - you order like you would at Porto's, just by pointing or listing what you'd like and how many. So I basically had to ask what several items were, the prices, etc. before I decided what I wanted.
Tried their smaller fruit tart and thought it was pretty good. Not too sweet and the fruits had that glaze on top to give it an extra shine. Probably wouldn't get this again, but it was good to try.
Also grabbed a palmier type cookie and a cinnamon crisp chip/cookie thing. The palmier/elephant's ear was fairly sweet - the crumble on the "ear's" were very fragile and broke into crumbs, but as I got to the center, there was more bite. I enjoyed the cinnamon crisp more because it was chewy and sweet - more to my liking and flavor profile.
And grabbed a sprinkle cookie as well - definitely reminded me of my childhood.
Worker who helped me was quick and efficient. The total came out to be a lot less than I expected. Will be back soon to try some of their other items - heard their guava and cheese rolls and the tamales...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI needed a choco flan for my sisterās bday. So I found this bakery online and one of the reviews talked about how good the choco flan was. Therefore I drove 30 minutes to go get it. The welcoming was not very friendly, the lady was rushing me and I wanted to explore the bakery since I had not been there. Then when I saw the choco flan, it did not look as good as it did online but I figured we had to give it a shot. Besides I drove all the way there just for that. Then when it was time for cake. I removed the fruit from the top so that I can cut it better and realized the fruit was old and all the berries have gone bad. I tried the Chico flan before giving it out to our guests and it tastes stale. I had to spit it out of my mouth that is how bad it was. All ended up in the trash. Fortunately, I had made a Bundt cake for the people who would not want eat choco flan. But I would not recommend this bakery for the fact that they sell spoiled cakes. I may have lost $36 today but they lost a very good client because I will never go back there. It was too far for me take a drive for a refund and gas is...
