Sorry to say but this pops location falls far short in the taste and quality of their items. It once was very good on par with the locations in Palos and Chicago the last three times I went through the drive thru I was highly disappointed. I like to give a subpar eatery three chances to correct their mistakes. I called and spoke to a Mgr. about the first bad visit (I was a repeat customer prior with no complaints) he apologized and said he would correct the problems. This week I tried again. The lure of a $1.99 Italian sausage sandwich drove me in. I ordered the sausage sand. a small fry, a kids meal of chicken 4 pieces. The beverage was included in the kids meal as are the fries. I ordered a small root beer and a hot dog with every thing. Over $15 for myself and my grandson. It's not the money I'm concerned with we go to lunch 5 days a week and spend $10 to $12 for the two of us. The problem is the food. Cold tasteless hotdog with a cold bun. The trimmings were lack luster like they sat around too long. The worse item was the Italian sausage sandwich. Hard, dry and tasting old like the sausage had seen better days. The bread, unlike the bread used at other pops locations was like the cheap soft white bread imitation of Italian bread that supermarkets carry the fries are always unsalted or under salted even though I asked through the speaker please salt the fries when they come up. If you don't immediately eat the fries they harden and become petrified, terrible fries. We got our order and pulled in back of pops to eat immediately after receiving our food. My 5 year old grandson who once loved pops gave me his fries and said they were no good. His chicken was fine, but nothing different than any other fast food restaurant I was concerned about the problems at pops crown point and worried about the future of this once fantastic eatery until I noticed while I was picking up my order at Taco Bell, pops bought the old Ponderosa building and is tearing it down to build the new home of pops crown point. I hope the new home will bring better food and a closer adherence to the original pops standards that made...
Read moreI've eaten here many times before with never a problem. Today I ordered a quart of chicken noodle soup and the girl told me there wasn't enough for a quart so as I was debating which other flavor to get, I was told that there actually WAS enough for a quart. I paid the $9.62 and when I got home and opened the container later that day, I discovered it was all broth. When I called and talked to the supervisor "Cheryl", she told me I could bring the soup back and exchange it for a different soup. After telling her that this would be pretty inconvenient getting back in my car and driving all the way back and exchanging the soup for something that could have been avoided so easily at the time, she said all she could do was give me 90 cents off of another quart the next time I come in. It's not like I had to "prove" that what I was saying was true. The girl who worked there knew exactly what she did and could easily verify my story. So I guess I am out the other 8 bucks plus and "Cheryl" really acted as if she didn't care. She expalined it was company policy and absolutely no exceptions. They just lost a very good customer due to their poor...
Read moreSuper disappointed in my visit to pop's today. For one, the fries were either overdone or redipped in the grease to make them hot again. For two, I asked for hot peppers and what I got was a bunch of celery with a few really tiny slices of pepper mixed in and it wasn't in the slightest bit hot. For three, the meat had a slightly burnt overdone flavor to it. And the final injustice - all the juice leaked out of the sandwich, out of the wax paper, out of the regular paper, and through the paper bag I was handed so by the time I got home and got out of the car the sandwiches fell through the bottom of the wet paper bag and onto the ground. They were still edible because only the paper got dirty but still - if you're going to serve sandwiches that are that wet maybe you should put them in a plastic bag. Edit: I emailed them about this and never got a response. I was hoping for an apology and maybe a replacement order or some coupons but I guess they don't care about fixing things with unhappy customers. I used to love eating here but I won't...
